COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Taniwha is a silky smooth, full-bodied malty ale infused with smokey, earthy, barbeque notes and whiskey-like character. A hangi-pit (a New Zealand style earth-oven) is filled with malted barley, sweet kumara and potatoes. The result is an award winning gold medal beer that’s as fierce and tantalising as the mystical Taniwha.

On Tap. Actually tried the first batch well after the launch so had aged a bit and loved it! Great smokey charachter. However tried again on tap, I believe it was a different batch, and had an awful sour charachter seemed to be infected. Disappointed, as was looking forward to it. Have rated on latest tasting.

On Draft. Aroma: Bacon, notes of honey Palate: Very smooth, almost as if no hops in it. Soft mouth feel. Flavor: Bacon, honey, almost seems like it has manuka in it. Comments: This one really depends on how you like your smoke.

On tap at Beervana. Going off notes for this one. Lightly smoked and roasted malts on the nose. A hint of dry biscuit. Taste brings out more smoke. Hot peat and minty tones. Sweet, dried biscuit ntoes come across. Solid
