3.5 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20 emerge077 (29) - < RIP Johnnies, Chicago, USA - NOV 17, 2011
Crystalline amber color, still. Faintly sweet honey aromatics. Sweet honey and clover/floral flavors at first, somewhat dry in the finish. Simple and not especially complex. It was pretty good, an everyday sort of light drinker to share with a meal.

This is fricken halarious being able to rate a honey wine on a beer site, heheh. Had ’on tap’ at the Vintage Estate in Ohio, nice place and great eye candy. Smells a little vinegary. Sweet and strong by beer standards and its totally flat , eh. What else can be said about sweet mead? Viscous and oily fer sure. Quite strong by beery standards.

Bottle marked 960/3. Pours with a clear golden body with decent, strong legs. Aroma of wax, grass, pepper, herbs and alcohol. Taste is sweet and nutty (chestnuts and hazelnuts), herbal, wax, dryish finish. Long duration. Thin mouthfeel for what it is. If this is truly the driest mead they make, I am quite scared for my insulin levels (and I am not a diabetic). Lightly tangy in the finish. Slightly tannic. Alcohol peaks through.

sharp almost sour arome - fruity - apple and pear. Quite thin palate Sweet and sharp taste too. A touch seedy. 6:3:6:3:12.
Rerate: 750ml bottle (Alko Arkadia, Finland)
Over-ripe banana aroma. Nobody else gets the banana. I even get the dry banana skin thing out of it. Every body else disagrees with me. There is some apple, but it’s not as prominant as the others say.. Some cinnamon, which some inferior brains may interpret as being apple -like. Too watery still. Not bad though.

Bottle. Clear golden with no head. Intense honey aroma. Medium body, sweetish but never sticky flower accents. Warming alcoholic finish. Good but not overly refined. 190908

Bottle brown, 250 ml
Appearance: Pours very sunny, bright golden body with perfectly clear body texture, viscosity is weak due to the honey/water proportion indicating to water. It’s even not much sticky.
Aroma: Very strong ginger and spicy dry aroma, the alcohol is perfectly hidden and serves for positive reasons, creating a nice background for the pronounced raisin aroma, resin, honey, vanilla, very mild and inviting.
Flavour: Front is very smooth in texture, very highly aromatic, flowery nose at front, which developes into really strong sweet flowery flavours. Easy going with low viscosity, aftertaste becomes very dry at finish with kind of tart accidity at finish. Finish duration is moderate. Notes of tart winegrapes, green apple, lemon, slightly medicinal.
Palate: Body is light to medium, texture is between wattery and sticky but more on the wattery side, no carbonation, finish feel is dry, tart and highly astringent.
