Jukkabro (2405), Tampere, Finland Mar 29, 2008 Dark coppery colored, no head. Well, extremely rich aroma with lots of honey, peach, raisins and nice raspberry-berriness, convenient, weirdly burning alcohol present in aroma
also with vinous port tone. Medium to full bodied, very soft and smooth palated. Flavor is much more sweet with dominating honey and these raspberries, alcohol covered totally. Aftertaste has still dominating raspberries with sticky palate. Sugary stuff, aroma is not so sweet than flavor. Great brew though.
masonjer (452), Holt, Michigan, USA Sep 10, 2008 Thanks to Solan for giving me a chance to try this. I recieved the package yesterday and just couldn’t resist from cracking this open last night. Poured a copper color, like a cognac. Aroma was sweet, some alcohol, sweet and flowery. The taste starts off quite sweet, maple syrup, small alcohol bite, strawberries. Super thick, it sticks to the glass like some kind of lacquer. The best part of this mead, as with all great drinks, is the great lasting finish. I take a sip, swallow, and let the flavor slowly fade. At first I found it slightly too sweet and cloying. But after I finished my first serving, I found myself craving it an hour later, and craving it this morning as well. I didn’t imbibe, and no I’m not an alcoholic, but this is some interesting stuff. I have a feeling I might be back for a re-rate soon. mjs (581), Helsinki, Finland Aug 29, 2008 (Bottle) Cognac colour. Sweet cream cherry and honey aromas. Very sugary palate. Cherry like flavour with honey. Very very sweet. sayravai (3186), Helsinki, Finland Aug 27, 2008 (Bottled) Deep cognac color with no head. Dried-fruity, sweet and intense, almost malty aroma with oaky woodiness. Intensely sugary and honeyish flavor with some smooth alcohol and raspberries. Extremely thick and sugary-syrupy palate with no carbonation. Very pleasant aroma and flavor, but the sugar wall is too thick to allow sampling more than 4-6cl at once. tertons (100), East Providence, Rhode Island, USA Aug 25, 2008 Overtly sweet, thick, and alcohol. My first mead rating, so this will have to be revisited down the road. douglas88 (820), Salt Lake City, Utah, USA Aug 10, 2008 Bottle shared by footbalm. Pours a light copper color with no head. Interestingly, this beer leaves a silky honey coating on the glass that slowly slides down, like syrup. The aroma is very boozy; some sourness and spices, like apple cider. The taste was very sweet; a sweet honey explosion, honey glazed raspberries, smooth, very dangerous stuff. A sticky mouthfeel, lip-smacking stuff for sure. Very nice. Enjoyable and interesting. Thanks Eric.
