COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
It has very rich specific fragrance due to the addition of raspberries and wild rose to nectar honey.

1 litre of Półtorak style mead contains 720 g of natural honey. By comparison, the Dwojniak style of mead contains 610g/L of honey; the Trojniak contains 420g/L and the Czworniak contains 320g/L.

Półtorak mead matures for several years to achieve full clarity. In time its rich aroma hides a high content of alcohol (16%) and acidity forming the finest liquor there is.

750mL bottle, sent from pantanap (thanks a lot, Kan), pours a dark ruby red with no head. Aroma brings out loads of honey and raspberries, with liqueur and booze. Flavour is crazy decadent, with a ridiculous amount of honey absolutely dominating everything, followed by raspberries, and moderate alcohol but well-hidden. Insanely sweet, well beyond cloying level, though it is still decadent as hell. The booze is well-hidden, as the sweetness overtakes everything. Syrupy viscosity, not that far off from maple syrup or something similar. Too sweet for me, but I recognize the quality of this. Drinkable in extremely small quantities.

Beautiful thick dark amber that leaves legs all over the glass. Aromas of honey, rose, raisin and raspberry. Tastes like it smells, with a deep delicious sweet raisin flavor, like you would get in a world class ice wine. Just enough cirtic acidity to keep it from being cloying. Alcohol is well hidden. This is the best commercial sweet mead I have tasted.

Bottle shared at a Bruery event in 2011. Thick gold pour with not a lick of head. Nose is honey, vanilla, and orange blossoms. Taste follows the nose with a bit of vanilla. Super thick mouthfeel. This stuff tastes amazing but smart to enjoy at the end of a session. Too sweet to follow with anything else. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Bottle courtesy of Kaj (non-RB). Pours clear goldenish red with no head worth mentioning. Smell is very sweet and slightly fruity with tons of honey, raspberries, rose hips, hay, dry wood, alcohol, raspberry hard candy, vanilla caramel candy, lemon zest, raisins and hints of dried flowers. Taste is extremely overwhelmingly sweet with craploads of honey, raspberries, dried rose hips, hay, dry wood, alcohol, raisins, dates and assorted vanilla and red fruit based candies. Mouthfeel is sticky sweet, silky, oily, very tiny fruity tart and full bodied. Finish is sweet sweet sweet with raspberries, dried rosehips, dry wood, raisins and tons of high quality honey. Intensely sweet, deceiving and extremely tasty.

800th RATING! This is also my first real mead rating. I thought I would start with one of the world’s best meads. Actually, it was the #1 mead on RateBeer when I purchased the bottle, but apparently B. Nektar and Kuhnhenn have now relegated this back to the #3 mead in the world. Cool corked 750 ml bottle with red wax, purchased 15 months ago at Bine & Vine ($46.99). Pours at room temperature a red - brown - dark amber color that looks almost exactly like brewed tea and with no foam/head whatsoever. AROMA of port, candied raspberries, dark honey, cinnamon schnapps, raisin, stickly treacle / molasses, with a noticeable sweet alcoholic heat. FLAVOR has much of what is found in the nose with notes of port wine, Red Hots cinnamon candy, sticky raspberries and raisins, maple, thick caramel and molasses, and some warming alcohol. Finishes sweet (more port notes) and with a lightly burning cinnamon sensation. It’s boozy and sweet, but with lots of great underlying complexity. I am admittedly not rating to style (as this is only the second time I’ve ever had mead), but simply on my subjective enjoyment of the beverage which was significant. I quite like good port and other dessert wines, so this was right up my alley. Certainly a sipper...this bottle should last me quite a while. Thanks to Geoi at Bine & Vine for procuring this rare treasure. (493, 800)

Auburn with a red tint. Smells of cinnamon, liquor syrup, nutmeg, cloves, Christmas cake (fruit cake). Full syrup oily body. Apricot, caramel/treacle/molasses or is it maple? Sweet sticky, sherry. Beautiful. So high quality, it’s on a quality of its own. Like drinking liquid honey.

Pour from someone at the Stone Sour Ale Fest 2013. Deep dark golden pour. Lots of honey flavor, notes of berries, raisin, musty oxidation, and vanilla. Very sweet, and warming alcohol. Good stuff, but not really my cup of tea.

Warm reddish brown colour, no head. Aroma of walnut, warm wood notes, alcohol, honey, light fruity touch. Sweet flavour, honey, maple syrup, raisins and vanilla. Full body. Sweet honey finish, caramel, lingering alcohol and raisins.
Very, very nice, in a dessert wine way. Good to nip and savour, but wouldn’t want to drink a whole bottle the whole evening.
(From 250 mL bottle shared @ Oirschot tasting. Thanks for getting me this one, Tim!)
