COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
It has very rich specific fragrance due to the addition of raspberries and wild rose to nectar honey.

1 litre of Półtorak style mead contains 720 g of natural honey. By comparison, the Dwojniak style of mead contains 610g/L of honey; the Trojniak contains 420g/L and the Czworniak contains 320g/L.

Półtorak mead matures for several years to achieve full clarity. In time its rich aroma hides a high content of alcohol (16%) and acidity forming the finest liquor there is.

25cl bottle from Krakow side-by-side with Kurpiowski and Lubelski. I just don’t think I’m a big enough mead fan/connoisseur to do these bottles justice. Glad I got them for about 20 Zloty and not some huge stateside markup. I did think the Apis was my favorite though. The color was darker but also had more red tint to it. I could actually smell the raspberries. The flavor was similar to the other 3 but I think I could pick up the faint fruit in the finish. Probably better as an aperitif....in small doses.

Raspberries are present but faint; certainly very sweet, almost entirely too sweet, but remains drinkable. Not a big mead person so this one is largely lost on me. Thank god I got this in a 14 dollar taster flight rather than paying 40-50 dollars for a bottle.

UPDATED: MAR 16, 2011 750ml woven bottle, very sweet honey and boozy, definitely a sipper, very sweet, full with a hint of raspberry on the back end. Very nice, but I’m not sure that I would buy a whole bottle at $40 again. Still Splended.

750ml Bottle: Aroma of honey and slight alcohol. Poured deep amber/orange in color with a no head. Clear. Not sparkling. Flavor is heavily sweet. Tastes of honey. Full body. Smooth, slick, slightly viscous texture. No carbonation. Heavily sweet honey finish. 16%ABV is slightly present in the nose, but not in the flavor.
