Draft->mini tumbler at Spacebar. Amber with offwhite head. Grassy and citrus hops, some spiciness, over a caramel malt base. Decent, but could be better balanced.

Piney, grassy aromas, citrus, hops, very fresh. Very fresh, lemon peel, pineapple, but not too sweet. Spicy. Smooth. Boozy. Yes!

Aromas are piney, citrusy, flowery, with some toasted bread crust. Clear amber with a lasting white head. Round fruity hops first, off-dry, caramelly, malty middle, sharper hops and mostly clean in the finish, great balance. Medium body, a little spicy, well carbonated.

Tap @ Sedona, Charlottesville. The pour’s deep amber with a small head. The nose is somewhat stale. Notes of cardboard, sweet red apple and cherry fruit leather. Similar flavors. more cardboard. Thin and one dimensional. Stale. Sweet toffee malt. Mild bitterness on the finish. Medium body, soft carbonation. Overall, this tastes like it was sitting in a distributor’s warehouse for 6 months. :(

10/5/2013. Sampled at VA Hop Fest. Dark amber color with a tan head. Hoppy aromas with citrus, caramel and malt. Caramel flavors with bitter hops almost immediately. Not bad at all.

Draft at GABF. Pours cloudy amber. White head. Nose and taste of light fruit, malt and touch of citrus. Lighter medium body.

Sampled at Lost Rhino. Hazy orange with lots of fluffy off white head. Nose has a distinctly home brew-y smell, like lots of old orange peels, some lemon, malt, caramel. Flavor is better, citrus is palatable, orange, lemon, pine, cracker, caramel. Bitter finish tempered with a touch of sweetness. Fix the nose and this is a flagship beer.

UPDATED: SEP 9, 2013 Re-rating - 9/7/13 - had a sampler then a full pour at the brewery. Lots of citrus hop bitterness, tastes of hop and malt, very hoppy, but well balanced enough to drink easily. This was better than it was in previous tasting and went well with pizza. Poured as a sampler at Virginia Beer Live 2013. May have been suffering from palate blowout by this beer. Aroma is a mix of IPA and red, but the malt dominates. Very very carbonated as served and was very hoppy.

Draft at Brewery This was probably the most unique of all their beers. They call this an Imperial Red Ale. RateBeer has it listed as an amber ale but at 8% ABV. The ale poured a clear reddish amber color with a nice white head and lacing. This ale had much of its bitterness up front and you experienced sweetness at the end. The medium body had lively carbonation. Your nose detects pine and resin. Great finish with citrus. This is a six month old brewery with excellent beers out of the start.

HopTsing (412) - Sandston, Virginia, USA - JUL 5, 2013
From the tap came a interwsting, copper colored brew with a generous, viscous, light tan head. Malty aroma with hint of honey. Full bodied, malty flavor with a lingering hop finish.
