ChristianSA (368), Copenhagen, Denmark Sep 26, 2005 Draught @ brewpub. Very clear, dark brown, with small but stable head. Aroma is mostly wet cardboard. The flavor also suffers from heavy oxidation. But underneath there are a complex and beautiful malt profile, with chocolate, hazelnuts and caramel, balanced by perfect bitterness. Mouth feel is nice and syrupy, but unfortunately mine was served ice cold and without any carbonation. I would love to rerate this beer without the obvious faults. joergen (6130), Frederiksberg, Denmark Sep 20, 2005 Draught at the brewpub.
Cloudy orange coloured with a medium sized yellow head.
Sweet aroma with lots of malts and notes of caramel and hops.
Flavour of malts, grass and hops with notes of Apollo yeast.
Hoppy finish.
Gets boring in the end. madsberg (4356), Bangalore, India Sep 8, 2005 Draught @ the brewpub: Deep amber coloured. Beige head. Loads of carbonation. This beer is floral, fruity and has some vague caramel notes. Has a pretty nice balance. Hops is present. Is medium bodied. Is quite dry and bitter in the end. Typical Apollo brew. Papsoe (9637), Frederiksberg, Denmark Sep 6, 2005 (On tap) Very dark amber colour, slightly hazy with a small, fine, creamy, beige coloured head. Lightly roasted, caramelish nose. Lightly sweet caramel notes in the flavour with a solid malty feel and some hints of nuts. Medium body. Actually a rather decent brew with the typical rustic Apollo feel. And then unfortunately also the usual harsh and not so pleasant Apollo bittering hops. 060905 sk8viking (6028), Copenhagen, Denmark Sep 6, 2005 Draught at Apollo, Dark amber colour with a big off-white head. Caramel malty hay aroma and a sweet caramel malty apollo yeast taste. Medium body and a bitter dry finish.
