Ungstrup (11354), Frederiksberg, Denmark Mar 2, 2006 Updated: May 14, 2006A pitch black beer with a huge collapsing dark brown head. The aroma is sweet and roasted with strong notes of chocolate. The flavor is sweet with strong notes of chocolate and roasted malt as well as lesser notes of coffee. The body is a little thin for a stout, but still OK. Unfortunately it is served quite cold, as the beer always is at Apollo, this one really gains from heating up. Without a doubt the best beer so far from Apollo. Papsoe (10285), Frederiksberg, Denmark Feb 4, 2006 (On tap) In my version called "Apollo Dobbelt Chokolade-Stout". Beautiful dark brown with an orangey hue. Small, creamy, beige head. Roasted, lightly burned nose with an almost vinous touch. The body is surprisingly light with a mainly sweet, malty impression and a lightly burned, underlying bitterness that lingers and lasts on my palate. Some hints of licorice. No chocolate added - only chocolate malt. Lovely - and one of the best offerings from Apollo. 310106 joergen (6529), Frederiksberg, Denmark May 24, 2005 Updated: Jan 2, 2006Draught at DBF 2005.
