Jukkabro (2289), Tampere, Finland Aug 10, 2006 Dark brown colored, little light brown head. Somehow unclean aroma: sweetness, lemon, yeast, mild vinous and some tangy tones. Medium bodied. Not doppelbock for my taste: unclean with tangy sweetness, caramel and
some crispy lemon in flavor. Ungstrup (10776), Frederiksberg, Denmark Jul 24, 2006 A hazy amber beer with a thin light brown head - a very fast dying head for an Apollo beer. The aroma is sweet and primarily with notes of caramel. The flavor is sweet and starts out with notes of caramel, which in the middle resides a bit to give way for notes of alcohol, and straw from the hops, which again is acompaniet by notes of metal from the alcohol, which in turn gives it a dry end. A boring Doppelbock, and having this as a July special is definately the wrong season. Thomas_E (4814), Copenhagen, Denmark Jul 24, 2006 Light hazy copper colour with a fast disappearing beige head. Malty, sweet aroma with notes of caramel and dark fruit and a hints of flower. Malty caramel sweet flavor with adried dark fruit note. Light dry and hoppy floral finish. sk8viking (6028), Copenhagen, Denmark Jul 20, 2006 Draught at the brewpub. Orange brown colour with a beige head. Sweet caramel malty, fruity, yeasty aroma and taste. Medium body with a sweet dry, sparkeling finish. Papsoe (9637), Frederiksberg, Denmark Jul 18, 2006 (On tap) Pours a clear, orangey brown with a tiny, off-white head. Aroma of yeast and malt. Rather full body with good, roasted malts and some surprising banana accents - gee, did they use a Hefe yeast here?? Some typical Bock characteristicics are present, but they’re almost completely overpowered by the banana esters. Is this rather a Weizenbock? Dry finish. 180706
