Dark brown color with a creamy thin head. Nice chocolatey aroma. Strong mix of dark chocolate, coffee and lighter liquorice.
Ungstrup (10853), Frederiksberg, Denmark Jun 26, 2004 A deep red beer with a fine brown head. The aroma is very sweet with notes of malt and licorice. The mouthfeel is soft and the flavor is sweet malty with notes of licorice. It has a dry end from roasted malt. Earlier Rating: 3/10/2004 Total Score: 3.3 The aroma is faint but sweet with notes of Apollo yeast and licorice. THe color is very dark red and it has a beutiful beige head. The flavor is sweet with notes of licorice dominating but also roasted malt (more than in their oatmeal stout), cane sugar, and apollo yeast. The end is rather hoppy dry and the mouthfeel is smooth and a bit watery. It is served too cold for my liking. Hildigöltur (5051), København Ø, Denmark Jun 16, 2004 [Draught] Reddish brown coloured. Malty and fruity with some liquorice present. Rather roasty. rauchbier (2860), Isle Of Beer, Lincolnshire, England Jun 11, 2004 Tap, DBF 2004. Deep ruby red, moderate off white head and low condition. Low hints of roasted malt in the nose and some sweetness. Creamy and malt sweet in the mouth with some delicate hoppiness and a hint of roast, although it could have been the liquorice, developing and dominating the finish.
