Growler 200cl @ home from Bryggeriet Herning, Torvet 3 C, 7400 Herning, Denmark.

ABV. 5.8%. Clear medium to dark red amber color with a small large, frothy to creamy, good lacing, mostly lasting, light beige head. Aroma is moderate malty, caramel, earthy - nutty (chestnut, dried fruit - brown sugar. Flavor is moderate to heavy sweet and light moderate bitter with a average to long duration, fruity, fresh dried fruit, dry. Body is medium, texture is oily, carbonation is soft. [20100919]

Draught at the brewpub, shared with Mikkel. Sleightly hazy chestnut brown with a small light brown head. Herbal and malty aroma of fresh leaves, chestnuts, caramel and grass. Flavor, again, has a sharp herbal bitterness to it balanced out by a nutty and somwhat sweet caramel sweetness.

KastanjeØl, at the brewpub, 5.8%, beer of the month apparently.
Poured a dark red body with a persistent medium sized white head. Pungent aroma, sweet, aroma hops? Whoa. More of the same in the taste, sweet, some malt, but there is definitely some aroma hop in here. Eh, thought it would be more... chestnutty. Still, the best of the night.

Draught, 5.8. Dark amber brown, small off-white head. Sweet well toasted caramel chestnut malty aroma. Good mouthfeel. Rather sweet roasty caramel and malty chestnut flavour with a soft bitterness. Sweet roasty caramel chestnut finish. An allright brew.

Tasted as Flakhaven Kastanie ale@Øllets dag 2010. Pours dark amber with a white head. Aroma is malt, butterscotch and light chestnut. Flavour is sweet caramel, butterscotch, chestnut and light hop. Light bitter.

First of all, this is not retired as I had it fresh from tap at Apollo yesterday. It is the "beer of the month" in September. Appearance is clear brown with an ok head; medium dense and medium duration. Typical quality-brown ale appearance. Aroma is very obviously marked by delicate, roasted, coffee beans with a bunch of indefinate spices. Flavor is malty and spicy with coffee and a nice roasted finish. Nutmeg is dominating the last touch of the finish and goes together with some roastyness into the finish. This brown ale reminds me most of a spicy dunkler bock, but the body reminds you that this is a brown ale. Soft beer, medium body.

Clear mahogany with a large beige head. Sourish aroma with roasted malt, caramel and hops. Flavour was sourish with hard roasted malt, coffee and liquerice notes. Finished and sourish.

Draught at the brewpub as Kastanjeøl - 7.9% ABV. Clear red brown coloured with a medium sized beige head. Sweet aroma of caramel with notes of fruits and nuts and an acidic touch. Sweet flavour of caramel, fruits and nuts. Fruity finish.

Draught at Sct. Clemens. Nice head with good duration. Color is brown. Aroma and taste are nuts and caramel. Nice bitter finish.
