Draught @ Brewery Herning. Dark yellow colour with small head. Aroma is malt and some spice. Slight sweetness in the begin and some bitterness in the end

UPDATED: MAY 14, 2006 [Flakhaven] A unclear green-orange beer with a huge off-white head. The aroma is faint, but what is there is yeasty. The flavor is malty and rather yeast combined with notes of straw - leading to a dry sweet end. It seems that the yeast used is not the same as the other brewpubs in the chain - or maybe yeast is just fresh? unfortunately I didn’t have the posibility to talk the the brewer.

[Apollo] An unfilteret brewpub speciality that has a very beutiful head and some hoppy taste.

(On tap) Pretty pilsener golden with a creamy, white head. Weak hints of malt in the aroma. Starts malty and sweetish but ends dry and lightly hoppy with a sulphurous edge. 291005

(On tap) Pretty, deep golden colour, slightly hazy with a small, dense head that sticks to the glass. Very fruity nose, and the fruitiness continues pretty much all the way through. Aromatic from the hops which also leave a solid shot of bitterness that lingers for a long time. Low in carbonation and quite lovely. 111201

From tap at the brewpub. Pours hazy yellow with a white head. Aroma is buttery, quite thick buttery. Flavour is soft and mellow malty again with a clear buttery note. Slight fruity note before a rather short finish. Strangely the beer isn’t offensive nor bad despite the dominant buttery notes. Mideocre brew with a deduction in overall due to the dominant buttery notes.

Rddish golden appearance. Sweet murky malty aroma. Firm malt character, some drystal malt character. Some bitterness and pleasant hop aromatic finish. Like a pleasant cross between a Franconian kellerbier and a Danish lager.

Draft at the brewpub. Clear yellow coloured with a creamy white head. Aroma of malts, corn, bread, hops and yeast. Sweet flavour of malts, corn, yeast and hops.

Draught. Cloudy amber coloured with a cramy white head. Aroma of malts and hops with fruity notes. Flavour of malts with notes of fruits, hops, corn and grass. Hoppy finish. Nice pilsener.

Hazy copper color. The aroma shows a very nice crispy malt and let’s hope for something great; indeed the flavor is not bad (maybe it takes some time to get a rounder mouthfeel), but not exceptional. The thing that disappoints me a bit is the bitterness: quite harsh (too long hop infusion?). Pleasant.

2003-05-14, draught at Copenhagen beerfestival as Sct. Clemens Pilsner, 7-4-5-3-13=32
Golden color, hazy. Nice aroma; some malt and hop, fruity. Too dry taste, not enough malt nor hop. Ordinary palate. Less interesting than the Apollo.

2003-01-07, draught at the Apollo brewpub, 8-5-8-5-16=42
Rather dry taste, with an impressive hop character, not too bitter, but a lot aromatic, and a bit fruity. Compared to <a href=’http://www.ratebeer.com/ShowBeer.asp?BeerID= Dunkles it’s more aggressive and the body weaker, compared to <a href=’http://www.ratebeer.com/ShowBeer.asp?BeerID= Italiano Tipopils it has more malt and less hop, fruiter and less herbal. Maybe too much aggressive with the high carbonation, and still a bit metallic; with less carbonation, it’s sweeter than the Tipopils and the malt is more evidentiated.
When warmer, the score may even be 10/5/9/5/18!

2002-07-14, draught at the Apollo brewpub, 9-5-8-5-16=43
Gold color, thick and generous head. Wonderful and deep hop aroma. Very good mix of malt and hop, good body, rather dry. Good hop palate, well aromatic, medium-long, with a residual sweetness/smoothness.
A surprisingly good pilsner.

Cloudy golden with a medium white head. Sweet aroma with malt, caramel and butter notes. Flavour was sweet with fruity notes along with malt, caramel and hint of hops. Finished mild bitter.

Lively carbonated like the average danish pilsner and very sour from the hops. A bit bite from the spices. Only average though it represents my hometown!

I thought it was more of a Vienna, but this is great lager either way - fresh, with a juicy hoppiness, smooth maltiness and fantastic balance. Maybe the best lager in Denmark.
