(On tap) Clear mahogany with an orange hue and a handsome, dense, beige head with good retention and leaving a pretty lacework. Aroma of roasted malt. 2.7 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 10/20 Ungstrup (23917) - Oamaru, NEW ZEALAND - SEP 20, 2006
A brown beer with a red shine under a brown head. The aroma is sweet with notes of licorice, malt, and caramel - nicely inviting. The flavor starts out sweet with strong notes of licorice and caramel, but with a note of butter lying in the back ground - brewing flaw? After detecting the butter in the flavor it is also evident in the aroma. The end is slightly roasted. The mouthfeel is too carbonated. Some good and some bad notes.
3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20 Hildigöltur (5107) - København, DENMARK - SEP 16, 2006
Draught at the brewpub. Very dark brown coloured with a pale brown head. Malty aroma with notes of chocolate, hops and some caramel. Malty flavour with some hoppiness underneath. Thankfully, Not as sweet as most Czech dark lagers.
