Appearance is near spot on. However, alcohol in the aroma is a bit solventy. Dry malty sweetness up front, dry finish.

Smells is sugar cane sweet. Looks fine. The flavor is think sugary malt without much in the finish besides carbonation. Okay.

30 cc bottle from Lubiere (merci!), served at cellar temperature in a tulip glass. BB 24/12/09.
App.: Clear light copper with a decent but frail off-white froth.
Aroma: Band-aids!, medicinal, iodine, small amounts of brown sugar and burnt sugar, vague malts, light citrus notes, not pleasant!
Palate: Medium-ish body, very big, full, round effervescence.
Flav.: A little more malt than the nose but still very problematic; kinda sweet, borderline cloying with a touch of bitterness and a not unpleasant malt finish.
A failed attempt. Keep trying though.
2.6 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 10/20 Lubiere (8239) - Ottawa, Ontario, CANADA - NOV 28, 2009
A copper ale with a thick light moka head. In aroma, herbal malt with sweet vanilla, and light plant material In mouth, a rather light malt with sweet cinnamon, herbal notes, iodine, thin and watery. Definitely not to style. Tasted Nov. 21 2009, with MartinT.

My Bottom Line:
Bready yeast flavors and anemic caramelized cereals are slashed repeatedly by vicious iodine in this very problematic brew which would not have been much of a Dubbel anyway.
Further Personal Perceptions:
-A dwindling head of foam tops the hazy amber (rather light for the style?).
-The nose didn’t predict the importance of this problem.
-The mouthfeel is very dry.
-This seems to be an obvious case of yeast gone awry. Or awol in the fermentation process anyway.
Bottle; merci Luc!
