4 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 18/20 matty (30) - Camp Hill, Pennsylvania, USA - JUN 30, 2010
22 oz. bottle. Was described to me by the bartender at the Harrisburg location as "a cross between a porter and an IPA without the hoppiness". Head dissipated almost immediately. Very dark - no light passes through. Heavy caramel aroma, thick mouthfeel, slightly warming alcohol presence. Slight smokey/roasted flavor comes through. I would try this again.
4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20 stonelis (38) - Kutztown, Pennsylvania, USA - AUG 11, 2010
Growler from the Harrisburg location. Pours a dark brown. Sweet malt, burnt sugar, some bitterness, a touch of coffee. Our waiter told us that this was supposed to be around 7% but the brewer made a mistake, so he added more "stuff" to compensate, so now it was really around 9%. After drinking a few glasses of this all I can say is I hope he makes more "mistakes" like this! I look forward to getting another growler ASAP!

3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20 CaptainCougar (6833) - Columbia, Maryland, USA - DEC 2, 2011
22oz bottle: Pours a barely transparent dark mahogany with a spotty-lacing ring of beige head. Has a sweet toasty dark caramel malty nose with some dark fruity esters and a touch of piny hops. Starts with good fullness and chewy dark malty sweetness with a good balance of resiny grapefruity hops and a touch of molasses before a semisweet doughy finish. Well-balanced and enjoyable.

on tap in g-burg on 6/17/10. i was told this was not the exact original recipe since the brewers had never written it down! this is as close as the could get.
dark porter colored pour with a thin tan head.
the aroma and flavor are reminiscent of a fruity old ale mixed with notes of coffee, roast, scalded cream, grassiness, chocolate and mild smokiness. nice dryness throughout though it is creamy and soft textured. hoppy dryness keeps it quite drinkable. 7/4/7/4/15/3.7
