DocLock (4083), Lower Pottsgrove, Pennsylvania, USA Apr 13, 2004 Had this at the Malvern event. This is a nice abbey dubbel. Good nose of fruit, citrus, and slight yeast. Finishes sweet, malty, and crisp.
illinismitty (1397), Nashville, Tennessee, USA Mar 17, 2008 Draft at Harrisburg. Pours a hazy amber with an off white head. Aroma of sweet dark fruits and banana bread. The texture is a little thin in the middle for a dubbel, but this is very easy to drink. Flavors of dark wheat malts, raisen, banana, candi sugar, and caramel apples blend nicely. Finish is slightly yeasty. I did find some of the phenols distracting on the finish, but otherwise this is a decent beer. I think this brewer does a respectable job so far when it comes to Belgian beers. ryan (1682), Beltsville, Maryland, USA Mar 2, 2008 Very hazy dark amber with a small off-white head. The nose is pear, apple, banana and herbs. The flavor is moderately sweet, lightly bitter with banana, peach, pear, apple, cotton candy and pepper. Medium/full body is round with moderate carbonation. acrdz (4248), Pennsylvania, USA Jan 27, 2008 Hazy dark honey amber color. Sweet red apple and creamed bananas in the nose, along with honey and pear yeast esters – I would say they nailed the fruit and bread scents with the yeast, and thankfully this is unfiltered. Smooth texture, turning lightly dry on the palate, it finished smooth and creamy with apples, pears and sweet bread flavors. A good Belgian-style dubbel. jehoey (704), Shippensburg, Pennsylvania, USA Apr 19, 2007 on tap at boxers in Huntingdon, PA: poured a redish brown with a decent amount of head. aroma was lovely funky and spicy as a belgian ale should be, but it was definitely missing the big malty aroma. Flavor was dry and spicy but was missing the matly frutiy flavors. They yeast flavors were there, but they mixed in with what might have been too much hoping and created a harsh finish that should not be part of any dubbel. palate was rather thin, but medium. nothing to write home about jonnabrix (124), Newberrytown, Pennsylvania, USA Mar 13, 2007 This was decent - nothing spectacular, but no particular complaints for a Dubbel. This had a nice strong aroma that was both sweet and spicy. The flavor was very sweet, with some additional spices coming through.
