This classic English style was once the largest selling beer in the UK. Now, we bring you a tasty keg conditioned version. We age this beer to perfection and hit it with a dose of high krausen. Then the beer ages at cellar temperature until it is ready to serve. The English malt and hops we use in this Extra Special Bitter develop a perfect blend sweetness and bitterness. Its smoothness is very enjoyable.

This is a decently drinkable ESB. Itís the greatest, but not the worst Iíve sampled. The beer pours a dark copper color with a small off-white head. The head leaves some lacing around the glass. The nose was a little odd, because I smelled a hint of dirty socks in the aroma. I also got some slightly spicy hops. The body was smooth, drinkable and fairly well-balanced, with notes of dry and spicy hops, caramel malt, toast and bread. The finish is a little more bitter than the actual flavors.

On tap at the brewpub. Pours a clear amber red with a thin white head. Aroma of lots of fruits, especially apple skins. Flavor of sweet malt, light spicy hops, and plenty of sweet fruits with a touch of floral notes. Ok, but itís sweet. 7/4/6/3/13 (3.3/5)

On tap at the brewpub. Pours a deep caramel brown with a medium sized beige head. Coffee and roast, gentle caramel and a bit of hops. Lots of toast and roast. Coffee and toast. Big roast, malt. Long roast bitterness. Maybe not to style, but quite tasty. Sort of like a little tiny porter.

Served on draft at the Gettysburg location. Pours a hazy copper color with a thin head. Decent head retention and lacing. Aroma of caramel and toffee. The taste is dark toffee notes, nuts and a bitter hop finish. Medium bodied. Fairly nice.

On tap, Hbg location. Pours a clear amber body with a small creamy beige head that fell to a thin film leaving tons of thick heavy lacing. A litttle grape soda fruitiness on the nose with minimal hops and a little toasted malt. That weird grape soda note is in the flavor as well up front. The leafy hops dominate the finish over a toasty malt base. Light to medium bodied with fizzy carbonation and a dry slightly husky finish. Overall, I was turned off by that weird grape smell and flavor quite a bit.

I liked this ESB it had some good flavors with the bitterness and a decent finish on the palate. A hint of high alcohol taste, although i dont believe it is over 5%...oh 5.3...about right ;-)

On cask @ Camp Hill. Pours a hazy gold with a lacing white head. Initial hoppy aroma gives way to a well balanced, smooth body. Bitter finish, good session beer.

on cask-pours an off white ring for a head and amber color. Aroma is mild and thin sweet medium malt. Taste is mild and thin sweet medium malt with some English hop tannins. Minimum carbonation even with it being a cask.

On tap at Appalaichan brewpub. Good aroma; sticky honey malt. Coppery with light white head. Has a malty, sweet, yeast dough flavor. Lightl hopped. Slightly too light-bodied, but there is some good flavor, not quite in the right balance to the body.

This one was nice and hoppy but still mild and subdued at the same time. Lots of flowery hops. Another good one from ABC.
