Tap at Ommegang. Deep copper in color with a nice head. They gave to me after I tried a hershey kiss. I didn’t need the chocolate. Hoppy malty aroma. Sweet and fruity. Big malty and hoppy flavors. Drinkable. Very nice. Smooth.

4.1 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20 thedm (4783) - Fort Wayne, USA - JUL 10, 2005
This draft brew from the brewery poured a small sized head of foamy finely sized mostly lasting light brown colored bubbles that left behind a fair lacing. The body contained no visible carbonation, was nearly opaque and dark black in color. Its aroma contained notes of raisin chocolate malts and molasses. Its mouth feel is smooth and thick with a lingering chocolate smooth vinous aftertaste. Its flavor contained different flavor from other barley wines more like a vinuous stout vinous dark malt sweet chocolate notes were present and it was very tasty. An excellent beer that I would buy again.

3.7 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20 morehops (39) - Pennsylvania, USA - JUN 11, 2005
On tap at ABC’s Gettysburg brew pub. Deep red color, a bit hoppy (around 40 some IBU’s if I remember right). This version was around 12% (again, if I remember correctly). Had about 4 or 5 of them.
4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20 Jonathan3584 (323) - Washington, Washington DC, USA - APR 22, 2005
Their most impressive beer. Pours red, but almost black. Very roasty for a barleywine and exceptionally dark in color. I suggest this beer, but not any of their others in particular.
4.4 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 18/20 scraff (2121) - Baltimore, Maryland, USA - SEP 7, 2004
Gettysburg location on tap - Deep dark brownish-black, some red notes in the light, tan creamy head. Intense rich nose of buttery oak, dark fruit, light smoke and a hint of earth. Well bittered, yet balanced, with additional fruity, oakey, vinous notes. Full-bodied, syrupy, soft carbonation, buttered dark fruit with an oak dry finish. This version was 12.8% and aged in chardonnay oak barrels for 9 months. Worth a special trip to taste this one. Just awesome...
4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20 DocLock (6826) - Lower Pottsgrove, Pennsylvania, USA - JUN 29, 2004
Draft at the brewpub. Pours burgundy/coppery in color, with aroma of malt, fruit, peat, port, spice. Tastes firm on the palate, with hints of malt, prunes, peat, port, cognac, and even cheese. Finishes bold, complex, and well balanced. A standout barleywine.
3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20 Jaysus (17) - Harrisburg, Pennsylvania, USA - JUN 16, 2004
/// on tap / 6 oz cherry class /// The current Broadstreet Barleywine is a one year vintage, chardonany oak cask aged, 12.8% ABV monster... and it is fantastic. The slight viscosicity leads to a tasty mouthfull of well balanced goodness. The high ABV is hidden at first and is only slightly noticiable as the beer warms. The malt profile is rather intracate and, again, as the brew warms becomes more noticable. They only brewed about 100 gallons of this beer so get it while you can!
4.3 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 18/20 CherokeeJarod (54) - , USA - DEC 26, 2002
Dark red in color and rich full taste. It rarely shows up at the brewery, but when it does, I would suggest that you go and get some. A good unique ale. Done very well for a local brewery.
