COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Our Barley Wine is dark red in color and has an original gravity of 1.120 (24 Plato). The malt complexity of this classic ale style is incredible. The Broad Street Market is located just blocks from the Appalachian Brewing Company. This indoor farmers market was built in 1863 and is one of the oldest continuously operating farmers markets in the United States. The beautiful brick façade and natural wood doors are typical of the structures in Downtown Harrisburg; including our own building.

Very dark appearance. Thick, rich maltiness, extremely sweet. Medium-strength fruity hops that unfortunatly fade out too quick into a very boozy finish. I didn’t know the ABV at the time, but I knew it was quite strong.

BCTC 05. Not sure what location. I was surprised how good this beer was considering I have had a bunch of mediocre beers from ABC. This BW is skewed more towards the malt than the hops. Lots of chewy caramel malt with a big chocolate malt backbone. Moderately sweet upfront but finishes slightly bitter in the end. Very nice- actually reminded me a bit of kuhnhenn’s 4th dimensia, although not as full bodied.

A very good Barley Wine. On tap at the Harrisburg brewpub. Dark brown poor with little head. Aroma of coffe and spice. Taste malty, dark, lightly smoky, and smooth. A definate must try.

Draft at Appalachia BC. Small tan head that mostly diminished, fine-small sized bubbles, fair lacing, uncarbonated, transparent, and an orange brown hue. Sweet, fruity, port and alcohol aroma. Flavor was malty, vinuous, fruity and some hops. Medium body.

Brownish burgundy pour. Big frothy head feels rather impressive. Very toasty nose, almost roasty dark malts, anisey and woody all throughout. Spicey stouty nose. Superb hazelnut and coffee flavors, very dry surprisingly enough, I’d be curious to know which hops they use, they are not very bitter, but procure a reassuring presence. Soft palate, light carbonation, smooth nightcap.

07.16.05 Tap at BCTC. Very dark brown. Lasting tan head. Aroma is much milk chocolate, some raisin, prune, dark dried fruits. Thick palate, low hoppiness. Gets cloying but still badass. Spicy, sweet tea.

Tap at Ommegang. Deep copper in color with a nice head. They gave to me after I tried a hershey kiss. I didn’t need the chocolate. Hoppy malty aroma. Sweet and fruity. Big malty and hoppy flavors. Drinkable. Very nice. Smooth.

This draft brew from the brewery poured a small sized head of foamy finely sized mostly lasting light brown colored bubbles that left behind a fair lacing. The body contained no visible carbonation, was nearly opaque and dark black in color. Its aroma contained notes of raisin chocolate malts and molasses. Its mouth feel is smooth and thick with a lingering chocolate smooth vinous aftertaste. Its flavor contained different flavor from other barley wines more like a vinuous stout vinous dark malt sweet chocolate notes were present and it was very tasty. An excellent beer that I would buy again.
