COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Our Barley Wine is dark red in color and has an original gravity of 1.120 (24 Plato). The malt complexity of this classic ale style is incredible. The Broad Street Market is located just blocks from the Appalachian Brewing Company. This indoor farmers market was built in 1863 and is one of the oldest continuously operating farmers markets in the United States. The beautiful brick façade and natural wood doors are typical of the structures in Downtown Harrisburg; including our own building.

(12oz bottle, 2009 vintage, courtesy of blutt59) clear rich ruby with a nice dark tan head. Nose of caramel, dark honey and light spices. Taste of caramel, light alcohol, brown sugar and toasty. Quite easy to drink for the ABV especially.

Bottled Nov. 2008: Wow, pours deep red with an intense roasty, pruny nose, a lasting head and lacing to the end, the heaviest BW that I have ever had with a chewy palate, flavors of raisin & roast malts dominate, some sweetness balanced by an adequate hop bite at the finish. Noticeable alcohol burn and flavor, perhaps too much.

Dark ruby red color. Pours from tap with a very thin head and leaves no lacing. Smooth on the tongue with a strong taste of raisin on the finish. Gets more interesting as it warms up. Very nice!

Bottle courtesy blutt59. 2009 batch. Pours a clear reddish color with light amounts of carbonation. Even swirling is difficult to arouse a head. Aroma is dark fruit, aged and woody. Sweet nose. Flavor is sugary sweet and brown sugar. Syrupy finish.

On tap at the brewpub in Gettysburg. Pours a dark ruby red with a small white head. Aroma of sweet sugar and malt. Flavor of butterscotch, raisins, sweet malt, and alcohol. Ugh, hard to drink and not very tasty. 6/4/5/3/11 [2.9/5]

12oz bottle pours a deep, opaque almost black, thin off white head. Nose is malty, crackers, biscuit. Flavor is sweet, malty, cookie dough, caramel, light burnt toast. Full bodied, sweet finish which is a touch hot. A barleywine that’s completely malt forward. This was a 2009 bottle that could definitely go another year or so.
