JFURYCAT (711), East Stroudsburg, Pennsylvania, USA Jun 27, 2007 5oz draft at the Cameron Street location. They told me its against the law to bottle this because of the high alcohol content in PA. I would buy it. My co-workers asked if it was a stout by the dark cherry wood color and I replied no. This was a sweet rather Earthy coffee/biscuit-like beer which didn’t hide the alcohol well in its aftertaste. There was some woodiness along with a chewy sensation. Its almost as if the beer bursts open as it hits my tongue. A bit on the wet side though and it could use some more CO2.
jimmack (1210), Nutley, New Jersey, USA May 6, 2008 Growler thanks to Joeec5. Dark brown color with a small tan head. Aroma of dark roasted malts, chocolate and a bit of brown sugar. Nice roasty flavor with a bit of char, lots of dark chocolate and some lactic sourness. Alcohol very well hidden. More porterish than BWish, but tasty nevertheless. dmac (848), Toms River, New Jersey, USA Apr 27, 2008 Sampled from a growler thanks to Joeec for bringin this one, thanks Joe. Pours a deep dark brown with only a slight hint of head. Aroma has large choclate notes, raisin, doughy grain and a good dose of alcohol. Full bodied with light carbonation. Flavor of chocolate, dark fruit, grain and alcohol. A good beer but that caramel, toffee flavor was missing to be calling this one a barley wine. pineypower (869), Pine Barrens, New Jersey, USA Apr 20, 2008 Growler, thanks to the crew at Dmac’s for bringing this one. Pours out dark brown with a small fading head, sweet/alcoholic nose. Taste is complex, alcohol content is well hidden. Sweet fruits, some chocolate and earthy notes in there also with a decent amount of hops. Interesting ryan (1706), Beltsville, Maryland, USA Mar 2, 2008 Dark brown/black body with a small tan head.
