dmac (887), Toms River, New Jersey, USA Apr 27, 2008 Sampled from a growler thanks to Joeec for bringin this one, thanks Joe. Pours a deep dark brown with only a slight hint of head. Aroma has large choclate notes, raisin, doughy grain and a good dose of alcohol. Full bodied with light carbonation. Flavor of chocolate, dark fruit, grain and alcohol. A good beer but that caramel, toffee flavor was missing to be calling this one a barley wine.
f351c4v (231), Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, USA Sep 19, 2008 Updated: Sep 20, 2008Pours a very dark brown with a tan head. Big nose, raisins, sweet maple syrup. Silky mouthfeel, very warming. Walnuts, dark fruit, sweet caramel dominate this malty brew. Very sweet finish. Worth searching out, but I tend to gravitate toward the sweeter styles... jimmack (1212), Nutley, New Jersey, USA May 6, 2008 Growler thanks to Joeec5. Dark brown color with a small tan head. Aroma of dark roasted malts, chocolate and a bit of brown sugar. Nice roasty flavor with a bit of char, lots of dark chocolate and some lactic sourness. Alcohol very well hidden. More porterish than BWish, but tasty nevertheless. pineypower (892), Pine Barrens, New Jersey, USA Apr 20, 2008 Growler, thanks to the crew at Dmac’s for bringing this one.
