COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
This amber ale is dosed with cinnamon, nutmeg, ginger, and fresh orange zest. It is well balanced with low hop flavor and nice hint of the spices in the finish. This spiced ale is not overbearing; rather it is smooth and very drinkable.

I see the negative numbers, but I donít get it. This beer is really delicious! It very well may become my new favorite "holiday" beer. The Grinnin Grizzly pours a light copper color with a decently-sized and fluffly tan head. The nose just smells like the holidays, with notes of nutmeg, cinnamon, orange, caramel malt and a little bit of bready yeast. The same notes in the nose also show in the flavors, with lots of sweet malt, nutmeg, cinnamon, citrus, a touch of alcohol, some gingerbread and some light hops. This is a very well-balanced and tasty beer.

Draft at the brewpub in Gettysburg. Pours hazy medium brown with a thin, fizzy off white head. Tastes sweet and spiced, malty, a lot like a pumpkin pie. Light/medium body and low carbonation. Smells like sweet malt and spices, cinnamon, caramel.

Tap at Gettysburg brewpub. Pours clear dark amber/copper with creamy beige head. Aroma is nutmeg, cloves, allspice, light toasted and caramel malts, and faint woody notes. Flavor is malty with some fruit sweetness and some dry spice and woody notes; thin with a dry finish. Light/medium body and low carbonation.

Draft. Dark amber/ruby red color with an off-white head that settled to a film leaving some lacing. Mostly spices in the aroma - cinnamon & nutmeg. Malt and spices in the flavor, a little thin bodied for me. Finish is sweet with the spices. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Tap at Appalachian, Collegeville, 29/11/13. Hazed chestnut brown with a thin light beige head. Nose is fruits, cinammon, spice, toffee, brown bread dough. Taste comprises toffee, spice, cinabbon roll, dark fruit tang, brown sugars, light citrics. Medium bodied, fine carbonation, dry finale. Ok for style.

Went to ABC brewpub at Gettysburg (Gateway), wife ordered this draft. Served in a pint glass, clear amber color with white head. Aroma of pie spices (nutmeg and cinnamon stand out) and slight toasted malt note. Taste brings out even more of the spices (general pumpkin pie spices, slight ginger and allspice noted) and some nuttiness. Light body, moderate carbonation, watery with dry finish. Iíll join the other reviewers and say the spice balance seems off, bump up the malt and balance the spices more. Otherwise light sessionable holiday ale.

bubbleflubber (1854) - Asheville, North Carolina, USA - MAR 31, 2013
Pours deep amber into the glass, with an initially foamed head that thins out to nothing except a tiny ring of bubbles to the fringe. The nose is of pie spices, with heavy nutmeg and Allspice. Medium-sweet malts meet cinnamon, nutmeg and pie spices, with a crisp, spicy finish. The mouthfeel is a bit thinner than expected for the flavors at work, or at least the palate feels a little too zesty with overactive carbonation levels. Not a huge detractor overall, as this is a nice change of pace, and enjoyable for the style. I could see myself enjoying one bomber per session, as much more might become a little cloying. Decent spice brew.

I love beer, but I hate this one. Smells like a funky pumpkin pie that has spoiled. Too much spices in the taste that overwhelms the mouth. Bad.

UPDATED: MAY 5, 2013 Pours the color of murky alternating from ruby to brown. Doesnít have a very big head or leave any lacing. The aroma has faint spice notes but doesnít last very long. The taste is also murky. Nothing stands out. It just congeals together like bad nachos.

Bottle to pint mason jar. Pours a dark brown with little head, and decent lacing. You can taste all the spices of nutmeg, and cinnamon easily. Has a decent mouthfeel, and isnít as bad as I was expecting. Still, Iím just not a SHV fan.
