COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION In 2010 we instituted a “wort” contest where home brewers took 5 gallons of stock Amber wort and concocted into their own beer. We then convened to judge the beers and the Highland Amber was determined “best of the judging!” ReHab Homebrew Club Amber Ale Winner – Highland Amber Brewer – Verlyn Hays Verlyn recalls the recipe was inspired by his mix of heritages. The amber colored base reminiscent of malty Irish beers for his Irish background. Honey to recall the ancient Danish Vikings and their mead. Noble bittering hops for the small amount of German ancestry. Smoked malt represents the highland warriors fighting against tyranny. This conglomeration blended together in America with a clean crisp American yeast and bold, citrusy hops for the finish. An amalgamation of tastes blended into one with an emphasis on individuality and bold flavor. “I hope you hear the pipes, feel the warmth of a fire and hear the tales of old when you taste this beer.” Verlyn Hays
