COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
The Dortmunder-Export style of beer was developed in Westfalen, Germany, and is a classic light lager with great character. This style boasts a light golden blonde color and exhibits a moderate hop palate. The finish of our Mountain Lager is rich yet mellow.

Aroma: Sweet grainy aroma from the malt, some noble hops in there providing a floral aroma. Apperance: Excellent clarity, good golden color and head retention. Taste: Nice, slightly sweet malt profile. Medium hop bitterness, but think it could use a little more hops to support the malt. Palate: Mouthfeel was very good and it was filled with a great malt profile. I just wish the hops were a little more balanced with the malt. Overall: Great overall drinking beer, very close to the dortmunder-export style but would like some more noble hops added so the it is better balanced.

Bottle: Clear gold with a short, off-white head. Grain malt, honey scent. Taste is sweet, barley malt, creamy grains. On the sweet side, but a pretty decent offering.

This is a good beer. It’s kind of sweet for a lager, but it doesn’t insult you with its odd approach to a lager. It’s good! One thing I noticed is that it didn’t keep particularly well, but I found that to be the case with the other beer I bought from ABC as well. It may be their packaging that doesn’t last.

DATE TASTED: November 15, 2015 ... GLASSWARE: pilsner... OCCASION: finishing off a football Sunday... APPEARANCE: clear, golden body that has a steady, sparse display of bubbles; the head clumps in marshy pools of off-white fuzz, with a solid ring solidifying the outside of the glass... AROMA: fresh dough intermingles with aromatic flowery fragrances; some uneven yeastiness keeps the aroma from complete allure.... PALATE: light, nearly flat body that allows for maximum sipping; little carbonation; watery, forgettable aftertaste... TASTE:slight buttery flavor with some maltiness to suggest a biscuit; some of that flowery, hoppy lightness attempts to balance the experience... OVERALL: a solid Dortmunder that offers a bit of nuance but also resides in the style’s parameters...

Poured from the tap into a pint glass at the brewery in Gettysburg, PA. This beer has a clear golden color with a small white head. the aroma is big on grass and malt with heavy carbonation. The flavor matches the aroma with grass, malt and some malt to finish the mix. Not a bad beer, good with quesadillas or nachos.

On tap at the source. Pours a clear pale yellow with a really nice albeit small white head that coats the glass and lasts. Aroma is soft notes of bread and grass. Taste is sweet pale malt, mild grassiness, bread dough and hops. this is quite true to the Dortmunder style, which is not hoppy, but mildly malty. I think it’s been under-rated here by those who rate by their own taste in beers than judging by style.

Less than average lager. Too sweet. Watery with strong blonde malt flavor. Similar body profile to the wheat.

Transfer from BA review on 11-11-13- Poured from bottle into a pint glass (bottled on day 204 of 2013 = July 23, 2013) Appearance – The beer pours a crystal clear golden straw color with a tiny white head. The fizzy head fades almost instantly, leaving almost no lace on the sides of the glass. Smell – The aroma is overall sweet with a moderately strong aroma of corn syrup and a very light caramel. Along with these smells are some grainy and bready smells with just a hint of a citrus smell. Overall rather cloying in aroma. Taste – The taste begins with a rather sweet corn syrup flavor as well as some lighter bready flavors. The sweetness of corn syrup grows even stronger as the taste moves on with some lighter grain flavors joining the taste as well. A little bit of hay and earth join the flavor at the end leaving a rather overly sweet flavor to linger on the tongue. Mouthfeel – The body of the beer is on the average to slightly thicker side for a lager of 5.2 % abv. with a carbonation level that is rather average. A thinner body and higher carbonation would have been better for the brew, hiding some of the more cloying flavors and making it an easier and more refreshing drinker. Overall – This is certainly not a beer I would recommend. Very cloying and rather unbalanced in flavors and feel. Most adjusts are far superior to this with a much lower cost and actually a better taste. I will likely not come back to this brew.

Light grainy aroma, with a touch of sweetness. Pours a clear light gold with minimal white head. Tastes underattenuated, with a sweetness left behind, and no noticeable hop flavor. A truly mediocre beer.
