Cask at the Gettysburg brewpub. Pours cloudy dull copper with thin off-white head and no lacing. Caramel, and citrus hop aroma. Caramel, pine, and grapefruit with a resiny mouthcoating finish. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Bottle. Amber. Very malty with some citrus and a lot of tea. Usually this isn't my type of IPA but, this one is perfect for the fall. The malt shines over the crisp hops. Very good. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Served on-tap at the original Cameron Street location into a standard pint.

A - Pours amber orange with a small one finger tall white head leaving light lacing down the glass.

S - Smells of sweet caramel malt, light citrus twang; most notably orange; and some dulled citric hops. If this is a double IPA then their single is a pale ale.

T - Starts off with a light caramel sweetness from the malt quickly giving way to a mix of light citric hop bitterness and some citric fruit. Finish is a mix of light hop bitterness and caramel sweetness. Not the worst I have had but far from the best.

M - Medium body and flavor with moderate carbonation. Not much bitterness in the feel with some light caramel malt lingering thru the finish.

O - Not too bad. I am not sure what makes this one a "Double IPA" as it really doesnít taste like one. I actually think they should scrap their single IPA, Hoppy Trails, and replace it with this one.

On tap 4 oz. sampler at Dan's Restaurant and Taproom in Boonsboro , MD. Clear copper with a creamy off-white head and very good lacing. Aroma of toffee, caramel, hops, brown sugar and toast. Taste of citrus, toffee, toast and brown sugar. Medium/light body and medium/high carbonation. A different, by respectable type of IPA. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Draft at the brewpub. Pours clear copper with a medium sized white head, solid Retention. The aroma is dominated by the grapefruit skin and orange juice. The taste has a nice early bitterness, plenty of grapefruit and tart lemon, a lingering dry bitterness in the finish. I approve.

UPDATED: JUN 26, 2015 Bomber into snifter glass, rusty copper color with off-white head. Aroma of caramel malt sweetness, powdered sugar and lighter than expected fruity/piney hops. Taste starts with a piney/citrus hop hit, fades quickly into sweet notes of caramel, tea, toast and grass. Medium-heavy body, low carbonation, soft, syrupy with some faint lingering cascade hop finish. Without a bottle date not sure if this is an oldie or not. Pretty hop subtle double IPA which is an odd thing for any IPA to be. With that a decent malt forward IIPA but not my thing.

Pours an orange-brick into the glass, with a light frothy head that reduces to a tiny ring of bubbles, leaving mild soap lacing. The nose is of floral hops. Flavors are nicely balanced between caramel malt and peppering Cascade bitters, light candied citrus and finishes with a resinous pine. The mouthfeel is oily and a tad sticky to the palate. It has a semi-full body and is nicely drinkable, with appropriate carbonation to actively balance the quaff. A nice take on the Impy IPA, and although not over the top, my favorite offering so far from the Appalachian Brewing Company.
