Pours a deep black with a medium sized beige head. Lovely coffee aromas. Smells like an iced coffee. Roast and malt, lightly sweet, oatmeal. Smooth and gentle roast coffee, long and smooth bitterness. Lovely lingering coffee flavors on the finish. The best brew on my 8 brew sampler that day.

From the brewery in Lititz, PA, this pours a healthy black into the glass, with a nice eggshell-tan head that leaves webbed lacing. The nose is of definitive espresso notes with a hint of vanilla. Flavors are dominated by roasted coffee, spent grains, espresso shots, finishing with an espresso hit and roasted black coffee beans. The mouthfeel is a touch thin for the style, even a dry stout, and needs just a bit more body to fill out the mouthfeel perfectly. Lots of great flavors going on here. I just wish there was a bit more substance to bring all of the complexities together. Other than that, it’s a great example of a style which is all the rage now.

Tap at Appalachian, Collegeville, 29/11/13. Simply listed as ’Espresso Stout’.
Light black with a good sized tan covering that dissipates somewhat but retains.
Nose carries a big espresso roasty blast, earthy cocoa, biscuit crumble, brown sugars.
Taste comprises earthy cocoa, good coffee character, dark toffee fudge, roast malt.
Medium bodied, fine carbonation with moderate roastings.
Decent coffee stout ,probably best of the beers I sampled at Appalachian this day.

Pours tar black with a tan head. Aroma of espresso, dark chocolate, and roasted malt. Creamy body with coffee flavor and some dark chocolate, and roasted malt rounding out the taste. Easy to drink. Very nice.

UPDATED: NOV 22, 2012 750ml on sale at bottle store. Poured into snifter glass dark black, thin tan head. Aroma of rich espresso, dark chocolate, nuts and roasty malts. Taste is sweet and bitter. Light body is creamy and has a dry finish. It’s hard not to compare this to its imperial coffee stout brethren but for a regular coffee stout I find it pretty good and easy drinking.

Strong espresso aroma, tan head gave away to small ring that held. Flavor is coffee heavy, stout follows. A good desert beer for coffee drinkers. Had better espresso stouts, but this isn’t bad.

22oz bottle pours a watery, translucent, light black with some cloudy, off white head. Nose is sweet, nutty, coffee, malty, bread. Flavor has some coffee bitterness, coffee, nuts, brown sugar. Thin, malty finish. Medium bodied.

Bomber shared by argo0. Thanks! Pours a clear dark brown color with a thin tan head. Good head retention. Aroma of rich roast coffee notes, faint sweet malts and dark chocolate. The taste is dry roasted coffee. Astringent and a little green, sadly. Medium bodied.

hazy tan, thin white head reduces to a ring. Nose is dusty toast, bark, bit of sweet fruit. flavor of chocolate, oat, bit of peanut butter and sugar leftover.
