Commercial Description:
Rockville Rye Ale is a unique creation developed by our brewers which utilizes 15 % rye malt, flaked rye and flaked oats. The combination of these grains with the barley malt offers a slightly heavier malt complexity than normally found in a light copper ale. The grainy rye flavors emerge from the interesting sweetness and are balanced nicely against a spicy hop finish.

Nice rye flavor, but not overwhemlingly rye. Nice broad flavors & pleasant finish. Very very good

Draft at the Gettysburg location, July 2006. An amber beer with a thin beige head. The aroma is sweet with light notes of berries. The flavor is sweet with primary notes of berries, but also light notes of bread and fruit (primarily oranges), leading to a dry end. All in all it is just too light for my taste.

On tap at Gettysburg location, July 2006. Attractive, gingery amber colour. Like several of the Appalachian brews, I found this one a bit on the sweet side for my taste. Smooth and a touch bready. The idea of a rye beer is interesting but I’m not entirely sure what flavour elements it introduces. But I kept getting tastes of a soft drink called Vimto that we have in the UK (don’t know whether it gets to the US). Somehow, whilst an interesting concept, I felt this beer lacked attack and the overall effect was a tad bland.

Draft. Deep coppery pour with aroma of fruit, heavy malt, red grapes. Tastes fruity, grapey, with caramel malt notes.
