Tap, HBG location. Dark amber to black pour with a small tight bubbled light brown head. Husky, dry, a little licorice, and a little roast on the nose. The flavor is fairly dry with lots of licorice and lesser roast. Finishes with a little bit of a chalky note though. Light bodied with soft carbonation, a little on the watery side. About average for ABC, decent enough but not anything to write home about.

On tap at the Gettysburg brewpub. Pours a dark brown with a light tan head. Aroma of lager and bready malts, earthy notes and vegetal notes. Flavor of dirt, glue, lots of earthy malts, and a hint of chocolate. An odd tasting schwarzbier and I didn’t really like it. 6/4/6/3/11 [3.0/5]

On tap at the ABC brewpub. Poured a deep brown color with a small sized off white head. Aromas and tastes of roastiness and chocolate.

’schwarz lager’ on tap in gettysburg 6/15/10 just before getting four hours of tattoo work! nice dark typical porter colored orange brown with a thin tan ring on top. toasty aroma... along with roasted nuts, grain, earthy tingly spice, a little wood and what seems like a touch of grapefruit pith. the palate is bracingly dry... nice! flavors of milk, roast, chocolate, coffee, grassy noble hops and spiciness on the finish. crisp medium body is dry and crazy easy to drink a lot of. 7/4/7/3/15/3.6
