Ungstrup (10824), Frederiksberg, Denmark Jan 4, 2007 Draft at the Gettysburg location, July 2006. A light yellow mead with a white head. The aroma is sweet with light notes of honey and citrus. The flavor is malty with light notes of honey and a dry end. The body is a bit weak. chris_o (4393), London, Greater London, England Oct 3, 2006 On tap at Gettysburg location, July 2006. Sold as Mead, which I suppose coloured my expectations. There is a light honey aroma but its sweet, watery and insubstantial on the palate. Couldn’t really find much else to comment on. Tasted more like a honey lager. A miss.
DocLock (3958), Lower Pottsgrove, Pennsylvania, USA Aug 15, 2006 Draft. Pale gold pour with no head. Very sparse aroma of citrus and Brut champagne. Has very little taste, perhaps a bit of fruit, but a wafer thin palate. My regurgitated solids taste better than this one. kramer17801 (1843), sunbury, Pennsylvania, USA Jul 17, 2006 On tap, Gettysburg location. Pours a clear yellow gold, minimal to no head, with some light visible carbonation. Aroma is slightly sweet with honey, wet hay, and a flowery perfumy component. Flavor is light, semi-dry, with a finish that is at least refreshing if nothing else. Mouthfeel is very fizzy and almost champagne like in feel. Not sure about this one, is it a full mead? Doesn’t really stack up with the real meads that I’ve had. Pretty lacking in character overall. I see now after entering this that it is not a true mead, but a braggot. Oh well, even with that knowledge it really didn’t seem to make for a pleasing experience. Dickinsonbeer (2466), Hoboken, New Jersey, USA Oct 13, 2005 Maybe the glass that was served to me wasnt cleaned but it kinda smelled solvently and a bit like bleach. Other than that it was moderately fruity with a very dry finish. Actually tasted stronger than it was. Not much to this one. Although I havent had many meads I dont think that a 4.3% abv is going to be anything special, since most mead are supposed to be at least twice that strong.
