tbookman (618), Ephrata, Pennsylvania, USA Aug 13, 2001 A good stout...dark, almost black color. Medium head, nice roasted flavor. Heavy on the chocolate malt. Slightly watery mouthfeel. But still very nice
hellbilly (852), scottsdale über alles, Arizona, USA Jun 28, 2008 on tap in gettysburg... very dark brown near black with a tan head and light drippy lacing. straight forward aroma of chocolate, dark grain/malt and some coffee. the flavor shares the same characteristics along with some earthiness, fruit and light pine hoppiness. bitter dry coffee-like finish without the astringency. medium body feels a touch light from being so bitter but smooth nonetheless. i like this a lot... simple. ryan (1706), Beltsville, Maryland, USA Mar 2, 2008 Black body with nitro tan head. The nose is light due to the nitro with some roast and metallic notes. The flavor is dry with roast, coffee and watery overall. Medium body with typical nitro texture and carbonation. I hate nitro. danger741 (2), Fort Loudon, Pennsylvania, USA does not count Jan 4, 2008 I love this beer. On tap at Harrisburg. Pour was very dark almost black. Smelled great with tons of coffee. Taste was mainly roasted barley and coffee. Very smooth great beer. Hank1980 (347), Athens, Georgia, USA Dec 27, 2007 On tap at Gettysburg. Pour was very dark with a tan head. Nose was of roasted malt, coffee, and chocolate. Taste was very roasty with plenty of nuts and coffee. Mouthfeel was excellent and smooth. tronraner (1399), (Louis-, Sevier-, Knox-)ville, Tennessee, USA Nov 26, 2007 12 oz bottle. Pours brown-black with tan head. The aroma has a lot of hazelnut to it, with some coffee and chocolate, too; actually, it kind of gives the impression of a hazelnut mocha. The flavor is pretty roasty, too, along with plenty of toasted nut tones. Some interesting hints of pine needles come through once in a while, but mostly it’s a smooth coffee-like experience. Pretty tasty.
