3.5 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20 LilBeerDoctor (2609) - East Setauket, New York, USA - JAN 15, 2012
On tap at the brewpub in Gettysburg. Pours a clear light orange with a thin white head. Aroma of bready malts and light sweet fruits. Flavor of bready/crackery malt, lemon, and light fruits. Perhaps more malty than most zwickel/keller/landbiers I’ve had before but it’s light and palatable. Also a little high in abv for the style. Despite it’s imperfections, it’s fun to try such a rare style and it’s pretty tasty.

Pours with a thin head. Doesn’t leave much lacing. Taste is very dry and leaves something of a metallic aftertaste. A bit one-note for my tastes.
3.2 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20 PapaSkeetSkeet (588) - Corvallis, Oregon, USA - FEB 3, 2011
Pours somewhat-cloudy gold, a shade darker than our mountain lager, with fair head. Aroma is very grassy, but the flavor favors a long and dominating bitterness, accompanied by some distinctly lagery sulfury notes, and a clean malt undertone. I wouldn’t say that this beer’s being unfiltered defines its flavor as much as the hopping schedule, which when combined with Pa’s water profile, makes a slightly harsh bitterness that dominates.

3.5 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20 obxdude10 (1831) - Pottstown, Pennsylvania, USA - MAR 7, 2010
Most beers advertised as just a simple lager are pretty unimpressive and unexciting. This lager was completely different. This lager had some body and real flavor to it. It starts off with a dark golden pour and soft, bubbly and thick white head. There was plenty of lacing to go around as well. The aroma featured some nice maltiness, along with some earth and a beautifully balanced amount of floral hops. The body was very drinkable, with flavors of light hops, earthy malts and some grains. The beer finished extremely smooth, leading me to the belief that I could sit at that bar all night and drink these. This is definitely one of the better lagers out there.
