DruncanVeasey (1631), Burbage, Leicestershire, England Oct 1, 2007 Typical haze and creamy froth. Tempting snout of apple strudel , wheaty sourness, wood, cinnamon. Apple custard sweetness the right side of cloying with lingeringly biscuity afters. Enough edge and acidity to retain some of the character of a witbier, and sidestep alcopop territory. A pleasant surprise. jredmond (600), New Jersey, USA Mar 14, 2008 Updated: May 5, 2008I pint on draft at the Queens Arms in Kensington, London. I went into this thinking I would love this beer - reading the reviews that described it as a wheat beer mixed with a fruit (apple) beer. I was really disappointed though, not because it was terrible, but because it wasn’t incredible, and I feel like it could very well be. The body is cloudy like a wheat beer accompanied by a frothy white (half inch) head. The aroma is wheat and apple. Amazing at this point. The taste is too sweet. Past reviewers have mentioned an excess of "syrupy" flavor and I agree. If they toned down the syrupy sweetness of this beer it could be amazing. Obviously it doesn’t even taste like a beer, hence the 3.1%. But I could see this as one of my top ten if they jacked up the alcohol and got rid of the sweetness. DownsouthGav (602), Greater London, England May 5, 2008 Updated: May 6, 2008cask at white hart, crystal palace. Apple, wheat nose. Pours an opaque yellow. Taste, apple, cinnamon, malt. Some other spices. Reminicent of apple strudel. I quite enjoyed it. JK (2401), Twin Cities, Minnesota, USA Mar 17, 2007 Tasted at Delirium Cafe, Brussels. Tall, white head on this beer. Apple and yeast aroma. Cloudly like a wit. Coriander and yeast mixed with sweet apple juice in the flavor. Lots of carbonation. I think I understand what the brewer was aiming for and this is a good apple beer. haddonsman (1189), Derby, Derbyshire, England Mar 15, 2006 Bottled. Solid yellow body, crisp taste, apple is fairly rasping with a little sweetness behind it. Straight out of a cold fridge it’s quite refreshing. Felt a bit queasy when it warmed towards the bottom. Would have no hesitation serving this with desserts in the summer.
