Bottle, Akita Sakura Wheat in Ueno Park, RBJG#2. Pours a hazy golden off white head. Sweet with lots of plastic aromas. Very bitter. Medium bodied. Soft carbontaion.

Draught at GJBF Yokohama 2014. Quite a light and smooth one, decent fruitiness with a touch of cherry, dry peppery finish. Interesting twist on a white ale.

Bottle (Akita Sakura Wheat) at RBJG#2 - Grand Tasting Ueno Park. Clear yellow/golden - white head. Wheaty, citrus, skunky notes, banana, light tartness, youghurt, old and off.

I am assuming this is the same as the Sakura Yeast Wheat. It was quite a disappointment. It pour a nice hazy gold which was classic for the style but had almost no head. Aroma wise it was very slight and the taste was not true to style with no detectable weizen spicy or esters. After it warmed up you started to get some tart citrus notes which were nice and overall it is an ok beer but not at all what I’d expect from a weizen...

This was a version dry hopped with Nelson Sauvin. Had a weird, yoghurt like quality running through it. some wheat, sweet and yeah yeasty yoghurt. Odd.

Bottle at home. Clear dark golden colour, not much head. Aroma is ultra fruity, cherry, orange, maybe some pineapple and something floral. Bit of grainy malt there too, bready and a little touch of spice. Taste is similarly fruity. Bit of apricot, pineapple, just a hint of the malt. Maybe a bit of marzipan there too. Really nice taste and pretty unusual. Fairly easy drinking as most Aqula beers seem to be, but not simplistic. Looks very thin, but doesn’t feel that way in the mouth. Really nice.

Good white head, hazy orange beer. Bit perfumey, fruity hops, not really citrussy, Bitterish, perfumed, going over in a pineapple flavour, and other fruity taste. Quite carbonated MF, medium bodied, spritzy, Not an IPA, for sure, but quite fruity.

UPDATED: JUL 14, 2012 Draught at 2012 GJBF Osaka. Clear, deep gold with lace. Nice nose, fruity, cherry, a bit of citrus hop and wheat. Rounded, gumball cherry, wheat, cherry cake flavor, dry bitter finish. Very well put together and interesting.

Bottle from Yamaoka, June 2011: 7/2/7/3/14. Aroma is cherry, citrus hops, wheat, peaches and banana. Very interesting, actually. Dull, muddy brown with lace. Fruity and rather sweet, with orange, cherry, peach,melon. Very interesting fruit, with decent hops as well. A bit strange, but intersting and likeable. Could be less sweet.

Like the Hana, it uses Cherry Blossom yeast, however, it is lighter, with an evident smooth wheaty body. Not as tangy as the hana. Unique twist on a hefe.
