Cask. Brownish red color with a tiny head. The nose is bruised apples, sugary toffee, raisins, port. The taste is mildly sweet, full of dark fruits, caramel, strawberries. The finish is a bit woody and hot, nice. Full body. Overall, nice work.

Bottle courtesy of Doodler (thanks Scott!) poured a hazy reddish amber with a small lingering amber head. Aromas of toffee, carmel, sherry, prune and raisins. Palate was medium bodied and smooth. Flavors of toffee, carmel, dried fruit and light wood with a smooth lingering toffee finish.

On cask dispense at the Cask, Pimlico (Feb ’12). Dispensed into a UK half pint glass to a copper/dark amber colour with a thin white head. On the nose you get a big alcohol whiff straight away! Also a floral hop aroma and some dried fruits and general sweet smells coming off. Taste wise - sweet malts, hops, dried/dark berry fruits and a fairly strong alcohol flavour on the finish with a warming aftertaste as it passes down the gullet! Palate - a medium bodied beer but surprisingly not too heavy and free flowing for a 12% barley wine. No stickyness or treacle at all! Overall - for a 12% cask offering this was a good effort and very well balanced. Mouthfeel was good - not too treacley or sticky, quite thin really !

Bottle 33 cl. Pours a cloudy opaque amber with a small off-white head. Fruity and phenollic nose, with quite some booze coming through. Solid body, close to flat, plums and overripe fruit with quite some warming alcohol in the finish. Not overly complex, but enjoyable none the less. 030312

Cask at CP&K. It pours deep amber, with a decent beige head. The nose is wood, resin, leather, leaf and resin. The taste is resinous hops, pine, leaf, leather, caramel, toffee, gingerbread and alcohol warmth in the finish. Full body, soft carbonation and thick, oily mouth-feel. A delicious hoppy barley wine.
