4.2 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
Bottle fom Rehills of Jesmond, Newcastle. Pours black with a nice frothy beige head. Fairly mild coffee aroma with a little pine also. The taste starts fairly hoppy with quite a bit of pine and light spice bfore the coffee comes through incresingly strongly in the finish. Moderate carbonation giving a full mouth feel. Delicious.

4.2 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
Bottle, consumed at home.
Huge beige lacing which is semi-prominent over the surface and long-lasting. Opaque. Huge velvet, coffee beans, chocolate, leather, blackcurrants, cuppacino crema, excellent bitterness. A really great big beer. It’s much better the second time around!

3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20

3.8 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
330ml bottle at home watching The World’s Strongest Man Final 2015. As ’Arbor & Moor Double Dark Alliance’, 9.2%, BB July 2017. Nice to catch up with this one. Black, decent foamy brown head, thick lacing. Aroma is roast malt, chocolate, pine, earthy, floral hops. More hoppy than coffee. Nice. Body is medium, smooth, soft carbonation. Taste is smooth malt and coffee, salty, pretty hoppy floral and pine flavours. Not getting a lot of coffee from this, and it could pass for a BIPA. An enjoyable beer.

UPDATED: DEC 27, 2015 Beautiful beautiful looking beer. Stunning rich dark mocha tan head on black. Medium bodied and heady. Very bitter dark roast coffee earth and ash. Bit austere and linear without much juice or sap. Bags of individuality and definition. Very special.

Oh my goodness, what a fantastic beer.
A 330ml bottle. Pours black, with a deep brown frothy/creamy head, fairly persistent. Nose is beautiful, fresh mocha coffee plus creamy nutty chocolate. Palate is sweet coffee, treacle toffee, bitter hoppy finish. Then tobacco, some green tangy hop notes. Great finish & aftertaste.
I want to do a head to head, but for now I’m going to put my neck out and say that this stuff is better than Founders KBS.
