We used all English hops to brew an old fashioned IPA, then infused a generous quantity of day rum into it during fermentation.

Very hazy orange beer, good white head. Smooth palate, fairly dry. Pithy orange hops, mildly bitter and dry. The rum is dark tasting but quite subtle. Finishes dry and a little pithy. Interesting experiment but not that well integrated. Next time I would use a Rum Barrel.

Bottle from Trembling Madness, York. A cloudy yellow-orange coloured beer with a grapefruit and woody flavour, a creamy mouthfeel followed by a sharp tart finish. I can’t taste the rum.

Bottle 50 cl. Courtesy of madmitch76. Pours a cloudy and almost opaque yellow with a huge and very lively white head leaving some lacework. Citrusy hop aroma if somewhat greasy. Medium body, super dry and fruity, quite some yeast and again citrus. Ends very, very bitter. No real rum notes though. 270812
