COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
This traditional Hefeweizen is light bodied, gold and cloudy in appearance, with banana and clove in the nose. A clean citrus finish makes this the perfect spring/summer time beer.

12 ounce bottle into weizen glass, no bottle dating. Pours hazy deep golden amber color with a 1-2 finger fairly dense off white head with good retention, that reduces to a thin cap that lingers. Light spotty soapy lacing clings on the glass, with a moderate amount of streaming carbonation retaining the cap. Aromas of lemon, orange, pear, apple, banana, bubblegum, clove, wheat, biscuit, light honey, and herbal/yeast earthiness. Nice and pleasant aromas with good balance and complexity of fruity/earthy yeast and bready malt notes; with solid strength. Taste of lemon, orange, pear, apple, banana, bubblegum, clove, wheat, biscuit, light honey, and herbal/yeast earthiness. Light-moderate spicy/herbal bitter finish with slight wheat tartness; with lingering notes of lemon, orange, banana, bubblegum, clove, wheat, biscuit, and herbal/yeast earthiness on the finish for a good bit. Nice robustness and complexity of fruity/earthy yeast and bready malt flavors; with a great malt/yeast balance and zero cloying flavors after the finish. Medium carbonation and body; with a very smooth, moderately creamy/bready, and slightly sticky mouthfeel that is nice. Alcohol is very well hidden with zero warming present after the finish. Overall this is a nice standard hefeweizen style. All around good robustness, balance, and complexity of fruity/earthy yeast and bready malt flavors; and very smooth and easy to drink. A nicely enjoyable offering.

UPDATED: NOV 9, 2014 Bottle: Yellow-ish, amber-ish, and of course, ever-cloudy with that signature hefe yeast haze; the chalk-white head isn’t as billowy as it should be for the style. Aroma is like a fairly standard, muted hefeweizen; notes of clove and banana being the strongest, with some citrus zest and bread in the back. Kind of weak, not necessarily bad, though. Taste is similarly weak, a little watery and not a good mouth feel for the style. Some overripe banana hints, clove, light taffy. Very small touch of finishing citrus zest, and maybe even some toasted bready malt. The yeast isn’t as powerful/potent here as I like in my hefes. Painfully average, lacking for a hefeweizen.

Bottle. Clean, golden color with a fizzy white head. Banana, bubblegum and sour yeast aroma. Big initial dose of wheat, with mellow tones of cloves and fruit in the finish. Very light bodied but the over carbonation takes away from some of the flavor.. Quite refreshing, but a little bland compared to some of the other options.
