CharlesDarwin (1333), State College, Pennsylvania, USA May 9, 2008 On tap at the brewpub. Pours a cloudy gold. No head. Light lemon sugar nose. Ugh, this beer is a mess. There’s lemon sugars, grains, esters, phenols, bubblegum and excess sugar all over the place. Sloppy. It’s got a tangible lactic tangle that in this form, combined with the oily wheat and stinging banana is just too much to handle. Heavy and wet. Ends in a bit of grass. This is not good.
sja14 (48), Ohio, USA Jul 20, 2008 pale color with white head. mild aroma of sweetness. mild flavor as well with fruitiness, bubblegum hints and a hint of bananas. argo0 (6019), Washington DC, USA Jul 16, 2008 (12oz bottle, thanks ryan) Minimal white head atop hazy straw body. Aroma is medium sweet, lemon, clove. Taste is medium sweet, clove, light banana, bubblegum. Undercarbonated, watery light body. kmweaver (1813), Takoma Park, Maryland, USA Jul 10, 2008 12oz bottle, courtesy of Ryan. Thanks! Pours a slightly hazy golden-orange color; headless. Dust, bananas, and light cloves in the aroma; some honey and Belgian sugars; a bit muddled. Medium mouthfeel: light carbonation; honey, soft cloves and spicing; basic, and a touch watery at the edges; not really an exceptional hefeweizen at all. Medium finish: breadiness, toasty malts, and bananas; some dryness from the cloves at the far end. acrdz (4148), Pennsylvania, USA Jul 10, 2008 Bottle shared by ryan. Clear honey straw colored body with a small film of a white head. Nose of syrupy honey malt, wet wheat, weird banana and oranges. Slick, wet, medium to heavy body for the style, but not thick. Light banana and lemon flavors throughout, but somewhat detached and seemingly artificial tasting… nothing special. ryan (1673), Beltsville, Maryland, USA Jul 9, 2008 Hazy pale body with a small white head. The nose is peach, pineapple, clove and honey. The flavor is moderately sweet, lightly bitter with banana, clove, bubblegum, herbs and pears. Medium body is a tad rough with moderate carbonation.
