Bottle from Chester Beer and Wine. I’m surprised this beer hasn’t pulled a higher rating. Aromas of kiwi, gooseberry and pale fruits that pull right into the taste and more with good sweet malts followed by a laid back bitter. A well hopped nicely balanced ale juicy and delicious.

568ml bottle (exp 30/4/15) from Southville Deli, Bristol. A superior golden ale with heaps of fresh tropical fruity hops on the nose and tongue on top of the smooth cereal malts. Lovely smooth sessionable palate with very well balanced malt and hop flavour profile. Medium body with low carbonation. Pours hazy blonde with a fluffy stable off white head.

3.7 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
Cask stillage at the Birmingham CAMRA festival 2014. Poured a crystal clear light amber with a bubbly white head. The aroma is citrus, mango, malt, light hop. The flavour is light bitter with a soft gorgeous zesty fruit light spice palate and a short bitter finish. My first beer at the fest and this could probably be the best too!

Apparently one of Arbor’s beers from the ’early days’ (I wonder if it was once brewed using the very kit I use these days?) A simple recipe with some wheat and Cascade + Motueka hops - a respectable US/New World combo. Dry hopped with Cascade - you can tell, but the aroma contains distinctive tropical notes from the NZ Motueka too. Aromatic impression for me is fruity flannels. There’s a tiny bit of pine going on there and some caramel / toffee-esque malt aromas as well. It smells good! The head is long lasting, white and that which has splashed onto my hands smells of cookies with the subtlest hint of ginger now that it’s dried (good). The beer is a little hazy but that’s fine with me - it’s amber otherwise.
The flavour is bitter, which overpowers the aromatics somewhat in my opinion, again we’ve got the tropical flannels (I often think hops taste like flannels but this isn’t necessarily a bad thing - and if you want to taste any flannel, a tropical one would surely be high up on your list). There’s also a bit of earthy spiciness going on beside the kind of subtle but undeniable flavour of the raw grain. This beer has all the watermarks one comes to expect of Arbor, the relatively high bitterness, fairly big, significant flavour, notable grain essences and a indescribable uniqueness. Carbonation is good - a little gripping and general mouthfeel is grainy / medium dry
It’s also nice to see that they were able to hire the 420chan girl for a photoshoot for their earlier packaging. She BL(EECH)ed her hair?! I get it...!
