COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Barrel aged, bottle conditioned Belgian-style ale made with whole raspberries (not some sweet rasberry syrup) for a refreshingly tart raspberry flavor. Sparkling carbonation and subtle herbal hops.

Bottle I shared with the Chicago Crew. Poured a hazy red with a slight orange hue and a quickly dissipating white head. Aroma had a combination of both tart and sweet raspberries. Flavor began with a bit of tart raspberry, but the flavor quickly became sweet with the flavor of raspberry puree.

Bottled shared by ygtbsm94. Thanks, Brad. Served in a snifter. Pours a dark, hazy copper color without any real head. A good swirl brings up a bit, though that doesn’t stick around long. The nose brings forward quite a few medicinal notes. This reminds me a lot of a mixture of cherry cough syrup with some stale raspberries. Mild tartness after that. The flavor doesn’t improve on this at all--it’s quite medicinal and doesn’t really have any sour or wild components. No real funk either. Not really impressive at all. The finish is oddly bitter. UPDATED: MAR 14, 2011 750ml bottle, at least 6 months old.....probably more. Pours a hazy, ruddy, dusky orange-amber hue with a moderate, lasting head of smooth, cream colored foam. Rounded, sheety splotches and skinny, jagged flares of lacing mark the glass. The nose is clearly based in wheaty cereal grain, showing a good amount of malty sweetness alongside a bright, zingy, sweet-tart raspberry mash. Some citric acidity is brought along by the tart berry and mildly buggy, dry, yeasty oak. Flavors show that same contrast of softly sweet caramelized wheat grain and tart, acidic, macerated raspberry. Tannic fruit skins lend a bit of a vinous feel, accompanying the wet, almost moldy oak and drying, fruity yeast. The palate struggles along just a tad, mired in sugars that should have attenuated a bit more, though the carbonation is nice and lively. The finish is clean and dry, saving face for the initial sugary impression. Overall, I’d call this a disappointment. There are moments of promise, but on the whole, it falls pretty flat. Decent at best.

750ml bottle. Pours a lightly hazed peach color with a bubbly off white head. A little over carbonate, lightly tart raspberries in the nose. Pretty tasty overall.

Nose is dusty and musty, body is dry and mildly overcarbonated. Taste isn’t very sour but has a good natural raspberry flavor and lacto tartness.

Bottle purchased from the brewery in Ann Arbor and shared on Premise. A-pours a cloudy golden amber color with a fluffy off white bubbly head. S-the nose is sweatyy up front, notes of medicinal phenol. the aroma sweetens and the raspberries come in next, a light bitterness to it with notes of acetone in the back that linger. T-tart raspberries up front, acetone takes over, a light bit of acidity and sour raspberries, hint of bitterness and the acetone makes itself known again lingering after the sip is gone. M-medium body with a strong carbonation, grainy on the palate with a crisp slightly dry finish. D-very sweet with too much acetone and booze in the back. the sourness doesn’t balance the sweetness, not recommened.

750 ml bottle shared by deyholla. Thanks, Derek! Pours a mellow golden amber, murky, with a very large bright white cakey head, dies to a thick film, laces ok. Aromas are an interesting blend of sweet raspberries and bitter tannins, sweet malts, coriander or atleast a gentle spice, mellow citrusy blend with a touch of funky brett and barnyard. Interesting, a touch of florals. Initial is a bit soapy, raspberry puree, lightly tart, a lot of coriander and flaked white wheat. Mellow citrus, funky bretty barnyard, vanilla and light sweetness. Interesting, gentle, not really sour though. Light floral hopping, soap, and some sweet slightly tart raspberry puree. Not bad, but considerably different than I was expecting. An easy drinker.

750ml caged and corked bottle labeled bottled on 9 ’05. Light gusher. Poured a medium to deeper and cloudy reddish/pinkish brown color with a larger sized pinkish off white head. Aromas of raspberries, vanilla and woody. Tastes of raspberries, wood, vanilla, and a little funky. Lightly tart but mostly sweet. I liked the wasy the raspberries were done.
