Tap. Amazing, outstanding coffee aroma. I’ve never met so high aroma in other imperial stouts. On beginning foam was big but after a while it reduced. Nice oily, creamy texture with full body. In taste a lot of chocolate, coffee and dark malts. Superb.

Keg at The Hanging Bat. Pours jet black, dark brown head. Big roast coffee aromas, just coffee, nothing else. Taste is also lots and lots of coffee. Some sweetness comes through at the end, possibly chocolatey. Not bad.

Bottle from Rehills, Newcastle. This is a jet black beer that pours with a thin tan head. It has a very rich, strong coffee, chocolate and liquorice flavour with roasted notes and a bitter red fruit and coffee finish. Excellent!

500ml bottle. Pours an opaque black, with a small tan head, which lasts well and leaves a little lacing. Strong espresso and roasty malt notes, with a little bittersweet dark chocolate make up the aroma. Faint floral hops fade quickly into dark chocolate. A little bit of sweetness balances the cocoa bitterness leading into the mid-palate, which has plenty of oatmeal smoothness. Espresso comes in at the finish. A good imperial stout.

Keg at the Green Man, Bristol Apr 2014. Aroma: milk coffee, chocolate pralines, truffles
Appearance: grim brown, minimal head induced by pedantic pouring ;)
Taste: profound coffee, roasted malts and barley
Palate: rich and viscous, slightly tart on the finish
Overall: an acclaimed beer, lies within my taste absolutely, resembles a pleasant coffee latte experience
