A lot of thought has gone into this beer - we’ve been working on the recipe for well over a year! So, it started out as an Imperial Stout. How about a few oats? How about a hell of a lot of oats?! Some smoked malt maybe - just a little. All good so far. A few specialty German grains should round off the mash quite nicely. Then onto the boil. With our very own coffee roaster here in Bristol, it seemed a shame not to use them. We played around with a few samples from Brian Wogan Coffee and finally settled on some freshly roasted Brazilian Santos beans. Awesome coffee! Just needed something a bit chocolaty to finish it off. How about some chocolate? How about some organic raw cacao nibs?! Job done. Just a long slow fermenation and conditioning period and the result is outstanding.

Keg @ Victorian Craft Beer Café, Halifax. Black with a thin off-white head. Has a robust roasted malt with a dry coffee flavour that lingers. It’s not as stated in its aroma as its taste.

Pours black with a dark brown very proteinous head. Aroma is really just massive coffee, roasty, perhaps a hint of chocolate. Flavour is more rounded with chocolatey notes coming out thanks to the silky mouthfeel, then the coffee bitterness hits later on with a creamy sensation to balance.

Compleja stout desde Bristol. En paladar aparece un amplio abanico de sabores difíciles de descifrar. Una cerveza muy enigmática y que invita a repetir.

56.8cl bottle at home from Beerritz, UK. Body is pitch black, head is medium, brown, creamy, mostly lasting, good lacing. Nose is chocolate, flavor is coffee, slightly smokey, dark chocolate, licorice, raisin, wood. Light sweet, heavy roasty bitter, hint of fruity sour. Finish is medium lasting roasty coffeeish bitter, later more smoke and ash. Full body, dry sticky texture, soft carbonation. Quite easy, great dessert beer.

Bottle; pours nearly black with a thin thin mocha colored head; aroma of bitter coffee, roasted malt, and chocolate; taste is roasted coffee with some wood and chocolate notes; finish is bitter coffee with a hint of chocolate; not sure if this is an imperial stout but it is a very good beer
