1.8 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 3/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 5/20
UPDATED: MAY 21, 2008 Bottle, thanks to Bu11zeye.
Poured a brown with minimal beige head, no retention. Aroma was the best thing about this beer, very coffee/expresso like, but that doesn’t compensate for a good beer. Flavor was lemon tartness at the beggining fading into a expresso flavor and then bitter.....Has watery mouthfeel, low carbonation.

3.6 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 15/20
12 oz bottle. Pours a dark brown with a creamy light tan head (after a vigorous pour) that quickly diminishes to a thin collar that leaves some lacing.
The aroma is sweet fudgy chocolate and coffee that are strong enough to hide some off-notes that seem to be hiding.
The flavor is sweet fudgy chocolate and some oatmeal and nuts followed by an acidic stale coffee. The mouthfeel is thin and watery with little carbonation.
Overall, it’s not very complex and does have some flaws but is still enjoyable.

Draft. A sad excuses for what should be one hell of a beer. Chalky devoid of almost all taste with a bittered finish. poor/useless.

tons of espresso. Not enough love. No good. Too bitter and watered down. Drain, here I come.

3.2 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20
12oz bottle. Pours deep brown with a small tan head. Rich aroma of sweet chocolate malt and freshly roasted espresso. Flavor begins with very sweet malt, which is then joined by roasted coffee and chocolate. Mouthfeel is thinner than expected. Not bad, but the flavor doesn’t live up to the aroma.

2.3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 8/20
12 0z bottle - Pours a muddy black color with totally non-existant head. Aroma is fairly roasty, definite coffee notes, bit of vanilla and cherries. Flavor is mildly roasty, with coffee and chocolate, along with a fair amount of lactic sourness. Finish is both tart and fairly bitter.

2.3 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 3/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 10/20
UPDATED: MAY 24, 2008 Pours a thin (for a stout) dark brown, a little translucent – sort of cola-like. Very minimal head. Smells strongly of sweet coffee. Palate is somewhat watery. Flavor is sweet, with definite coffee flavors, also some sourness. Too sweet really, could use a dry finish at least. Taste is not as bold or as mouth-filling as I’d expect from a stout. Interesting and different, but not that great. I keep coming back to this rating - I liked the idea of this beer, but really couldn’t like the beer itself.

1.5 AROMA 3/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 3/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 5/20
Pours a translucent brown in color with no head showing on the pour. Smell is slight coffee and chocolate. Only slight.
Taste is way too sweet. Lactic or maybe infected. Barely enough carbonation to notice. Mouthfeel is thin and unimpressive.

4.3 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
It poured very dark with a thick head that took several minutes to settle down.
It smelled delightfully strongly of espresso/coffee and chocolate.
It felt thick and syrupy in the mouth, and tasted as strong as it smelled.
For being such a thick, heavy beer, I was surprised how drinkable it actually was.
A definite buy.
