3.2 AROMA 10/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 13/20
Espresso Love huh ? Well this does pour a chocolate brownish color. Like coffee with just a touch of creamer. There is no froth at all. Bummer! Still as night. Aromas of sweet creamed coffee, not espresso, coffee. So far Iíd have to say this brew doesnít live up to itís name. Medium nectar weight w/ no appearant residual effers. You really have to abuse this one to get any. A watery texture is produced by this lack of carbonation. Another bummer! The flavor profile is primarily toffee, mildly sweet creamed coffee, and caramel held together by a mild roast component. Itís very mild, not espresso like at all. The thinish is bittered mildly and leaves a linger toffee essence. Overall: itís a tastey brew for sure but it doesnít live up to itís name.

Poured from a 12 Oz Bottle (Thanks Sean!). Boasting granular coffee aroma, combated with chocolate nibs and faint smoked salt. Rich and chewy nose. Pours a deep black brown pour, with rim of tan. Flavor moves into a slightly harsher coffee flavor then muddles in a bit of mud and caramel. Body tends thin and slightly sour, but not unpleasantly. Chocolate oils settle in and the coffee rests quietly. One of the cleaner regular beers Iíve had from Arbor.

3.3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Draft at Corner Brewery. Poured dark brown with an average creamy light brown head that lasted with good lacing. Solid roasted coffee and chocolate malt aroma. Medium body with a creamy texture. Solid roasted balanced flavor with a smooth average bittersweet finish of moderate duration.

2.5 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 11/20
On tap at Corner Brewery. Beer...maybe.
This is coffee. A very dark brown color, no lacing. Faintly sweet from the oats. Any carbonation seems to be absorbed by the coffee. Completely 1-dimensional and I did not care for it, at least at 4 in the afternoon. Maybe at 7 in the morning.

Bottle. The aroma is almost pure coffee. The taste is pure roasted coffee. Little carbonation, but that seems fine. Iím not a fan off coffee, but I like this.

3.3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
MiBGF 07: Opaque mostly with a small head. Aroma has notes of espresso, chocolate, toast, and smoke. A nice cherry-like tartness over a layer of chocolate with a bitter coffee finish. A nice smoky after tone adds depth. The mouth feel is very smooth and a tad thin. Okay at best but a solid way to start the fest.

3.6 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
UPDATED: AUG 2, 2007 On tap": The aroma contains lots of expresso, cocoa, and hints of vanilla. Itís a dark almost muddy brown with faint orange hilights and a small bubbled beige head. The flavor starts with lots of chocolate, almost chocolate syrup-like. The finish has moderate amounts of expresso. There is a faint fruity sourness in the background. The mouthfeel is a tad thin with minimal carbonation.

3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20
Whoops... just found the "missing link" rating sheets from the trip...
Served with a dark brown/black body under a head which thins out quickly. Huge coffee nose. Thin and a little chalky (as described), but the flavor has a truly robust kick to it! Plenty of coffee flavor with chocolate candy (Tootsie Rolls) making a late showing. Enjoyable.

10 ounce draught mug at the brewpub on June 19, 2007. Opaque dark chocolate, a whisper of foam dies quickly...thankfully, this is not served on nitro, as....the wonderful aroma might have suffered: one of the more intense coffee noses Iíve experiences, yet creamy-sweet like a latte, or maybe a mocacchino with marzipan, chocolate, vanilla and caramel and yes, even some faint "beery" malts; astounding....on the tongue, itís not as impressive, obviously not as full as it could be, but thereís always a nice interplay between the strong but smooth java character and the dark sweetish roasty malts, caramelized beautifully....low carbonation, a touch watery, not syrupy at all though it never becomes exactly dry, either.
