Oatmeal and 20 pounds of fresh roasted coffee from the Ugly Mug Cafe contribute to a mildly chalky espresso character balanced by a rich, sweet, creamy maltiness. coffee finish dissolves into chocolate with a slight roasty bitterness. Brewed with 100% fair-trade coffee from the Ugly Mug Café and Roastery in Ypsilanti, MI. Pairs well with desserts, especially dark chocolate, raspberries, and cheesecake.

On tap at the brewpub in December 2009. Reviewed from notes. Pours near black with a thin mocha head and not much of any lacing on the way down. Nose brings a decent amount of overly roasted espresso with hints of chocolate. Taste is about the same, as the espresso carries a bit of good flavor but nothing else really backs it up. Feel is medium. Drinks okay but not one of the better coffee beers, and not one of my favorites here. Serving type: on-tap Reviewed on: 10-11-2010

I got-a stop drinking these brews I hate them! Some people thing that beer and coffee go together but my taste buds say no. Poured thick black gust like granny used to make her coffee on the Beverly Hillbillys. Aromas of stale coffee grounds. Malty taste of coffee on the finish. not my stlyle but as these coffee stouts go Just like the rest. so I guess that is good so I gave it an average score

Brew some coffee, have it sit there two days, and then pour some water in the coffee, and wallah! You have espresso love; my only opinion of this beer is that it should be left in the store for hippies who love to drink coffee piss. Arbor brewing does other beers well, but this isn’t even a strikeout, Arbor brewing threw the game. Boooooooooooooooooooo. If you have in the fridge pawn it off to grandma.

Eh, I feel I’m being exceptionally generous with the ratings. Smooth beer that tastes more like cold coffee left in the fridge as opposed to beer. Very thin. Nearly zero head. Stupid hippie label.

Bottle. Pours black with a small tan head that recedes rapidly. Aroma of coffee, roasted malt and grains, bitter chocolate, sweet malt. Flavor of sweet malt up front, some coffee but it is faint, with roasted malt in the finish. Palate is smooth and creamy. This one lacks a strong espresso presence, but it is a tasty stout. 7/4/7/4/15 [3.7/5]

Poured from a bottle into a pint glass. A little bit of head but minimal head retention. Coffe and roastiness in the aroma. Coffee flavor is smooth and not. Very low carbonation, Full mouthfeel. Overall it is a flavorfull beer. The coffee is not overdone. Could use a little more carbonation to give it just a little more life.

Bottle from Eastman Party Store in Midland MI. Pours a viscous black with a brown head the dissipates to nothing. Nice coffee and roasty aroma. Full bodied with a creamy texture and soft carbonation. Flavor of mild roast coffee, chocolate, and dark roasted malts with a good amount of residual sweetness, and moderate bitterness. Finish has a small amount of astringency, but otherwise pretty solid for a Breakfast Stout. Surprised by the low ratings.

Bottle thanks to Timbo- the Michigan hook up! Pours a dark brown color with a small white head. The aroma is sweet malts, loads of rich coffee. The flavor is a battle between bitter roast and mellow milky coffee. Mellow and somewhat thin. Pretty good, very quaffable.

I usually don’t like this style, but this is really smooth woith the coffee only in the background. again well balanced if a little sweet, deep dar coffee color and some lacing

well the bottle looks kinda cool. lets see.. no head, thin, watery. a little roasty, espresso thing going on, but where’s the flavor? boring, watery mess. drinkable, and that’s about it.
