SoLan (1188), Orlando, Florida, USA Jan 17, 2008 Courtesy Styles. Dark brown/black with a quickly disappearing, small tan head. Aroma of fresh roasted coffee, bittersweet roasted malt, and a bit of an acidic twang. Acidity takes over the flavor and not in a good way. The malt and the coffee take a back seat. Medium body, carbonation is just a bit less than balanced. The aidity is overpowering.
DuffMan (2139), Calgary, Alberta, Canada Oct 21, 2008 GABF 2008. Near-black, thin brown cap. Lots of coffee and chocolate in the nose. Palate is heavy on the coffee, but chocolate is lost. Pronounced vegetal hop tones in the finish. A tad thin in the mouth. An average take on the coffee stout style. wheelz843 (120), Grand Rapids, Michigan, USA Oct 17, 2008 bottle. has a roasted carmel aroma. pours almost black with an extremely thick carmel colored head. has a watered down coffee flavor. no real aftertaste. not as good as expected. sneagrams3 (1464), St. Louis, Missouri, USA Sep 20, 2008 Tasted 9/19/08. 12oz bottle. Pitch opaque hue with a hissing, crackling beige head. Espresso, cola and dark fruit aromas. Toffee and Tootsie Rolls. Medium bodied with an odd, sour fruit note. Cola and tart. Mild vanilla undertone, but the tart is so off-putting. Not fresh. Not good. WeeHeavySD (2031), San Diego (Hillcrest), California, USA Sep 12, 2008 12oz dalekliz got me on her road trip or her mom got it for me, hard to know, great ipa from them and good name I thought it was worth a try. Pours black with a tan ring. Nose is nice with a lot of deep dark coffee and espresso character. Taste is rich and better than I’d expect from the ratings. Snojerk321 (1124), San Diego, California, USA Aug 29, 2008 12oz bottle via trade with mmm///beer. Aroma is dark coffee, roasted chocolate and some chewy malts. Pours black with no head or lacing. Flavor is watery mocha with a nice roasty finish. Palate is dry. Not a bad brew, but there are many other better coffee stouts.
