jcr (823), Jasper, Indiana, USA Jul 14, 2008 Bottle. Chalky, uncomfortable body and a carbonation beyond lively drag this beer down. Dark brown pour with a nice tan head. The aroma is espresso and roasted malts with a hint of chocolate. The flavor was lightly to moderately sweet and moderately coffee bitter. Finishes with a bitterness and sourness. The medium body had a gritty texture. Uber-lively carbonation.
Dogbrick (2209), Columbus, Ohio, USA Aug 19, 2008 Thanks to Rogueone for sharing a bottle. What happened here? The beer is dark brownish-black with a medium beige head that recedes steadily. Spotty lacing. Sweet fudge aroma with coffee and malt. Watery yet chalky at times and very tart on the tongue. Flavor of bottom-of-the-day-old-pot-of coffee and acidic fruit. The finish is bitter and tart but not in a good way. Luckily I only had a sample of this, because if I had an entire bottle of this it would have been a drain pour. Founders need not worry. AndrewKScott (319), Lemont, Illinois, USA Aug 15, 2008 There is no excuse for this. Black pour, but incredibly thin body for a stout. Otherwise, a light coffee aroma and a pour, sour, stale coffee taste. The finish has a terrible sour taste. Why the would waste their time selling and marketing such a poor product, i have no idea. CodyM (2), Michigan, USA does not count Aug 14, 2008 Pretty awful beer. It gives a pretty nice pour with a giant head and decent lacing but the taste is severely lacking. I’m not lying when I say this is one of the worst things I’ve ever tasted, beer or otherwise. Par for the course for Arbor though, This was the nail in coffin for me, i’ll be avoiding their label in the future. Rogueone (365), I F&ckin’ hate those guys from, Ohio, USA Aug 12, 2008 Three words: WTF. It’s as if they spent all the money on the marketing budget for the labels and then forgot to buy quality ingredients to make the beer. It is near irrational, but nothing disappoints me more than a bad beer, than a bad beer with an awesome label. This just tasted like sour chocolate malts and the coffee McDonald’s tries to serve you at like 3 in the afternoon.
UGH! lb4lb (1340), Austin, Texas, USA Aug 3, 2008 bottle shared by mmm///beer. Thanks Dennis!
Pours a dark black with a fizzy tan head. Smell is roasty and coffee beans with some dullness to the malt. Taste is mostly coffee and there is slight tartness about it as well. Tart coffee grounds but some creamy sweetness in there as well. Thin bodied and fizzy. Not great, but not bad, overall.
