Tasted at GABF 2008. Coffee nose with some off flavors as well....I wrote down metal. Flavor was coffee, but odd coffee.

2.8 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 12/20
Poured from a bottle into a pint glass. A little bit of head but minimal head retention. Coffe and roastiness in the aroma. Coffee flavor is smooth and not. Very low carbonation, Full mouthfeel. Overall it is a flavorfull beer. The coffee is not overdone. Could use a little more carbonation to give it just a little more life.

Sampled at an esbls tasting. Quite dark with a light tan head. The nose is ashtray and coffee. The flavor is a mish mash thst just does not wirk. Coffee, dark fruit, earth. Unfortunate.

Bottle- Pours a somewhat thin, dark glass. Small head of light tan froth. Cannot easily smell the coffee, must take a big whiff to get much smell at all. Tastes of watery coffee with a hint of hoppy sour. Pretty disappointing.

2.6 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 10/20
Bottle - Pours deep black with a big, tan, bubbly head. Aroma is milky malt with a little coffee and chocolate--a little sweet. Flavor is lot of sour lactic maltiness, a little roasty, and surpisingly little coffee. Itís a little bitter on the end, and not in a good way. Pretty creamy on the mouth, but with distracting harsh carbonation. Bleh.

2.6 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 10/20
A - Pours dark brown with a big, fizzy mocha head that fades quickly. Has some floaties. Certainly not what I expected. Kind of looks like a Coke.
S - Not a very big smell at all. Some coffee and chocolate. A little buttery.
T - Wow. Underwhelming. A little bittersweet coffee and chocolate. Then the butteryness kicks in. None of this is very strong however.
M - Thin and carbonated. Not what I want out of a stout.
D - Iím going to have a hard time getting through this one. Iím glad itís my only one.
Edit: This ended up going down the drain.

2.6 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 3/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 6/20
Aroma like stale coffee and syrup, but strangely delicious. A very intriguing smell.
Pours a mostly-opaque black with a medium head of tan micro bubbles. Looks like...coffee+beer.
Tastes like bad coffee (which is a shame, because theyíre using Ugly Mug coffee in here which I know is delicious -- if youíre ever in the area, hit up The Ugly Mug in Ypsi for some of the best espresso and other drinks in metro-detroit, roasted on-site) combined with stout. Too bitter, a big hit of...medicine...or something...I just couldnít enjoy this and I only made it through half a pint while I was having it with dinner at Arbor Brewing Co. Very oily on the palette and leaves a lingering bitter medicinal/chemical taste.
Overall, this one is a real shame and a big let-down based on how it looks and smells. I wanted to like it, but itís just not very drinkable. Honestly, youíd be much better off pouring a cup of Ugly Mug coffee into a bottle of Guinness extra stout.

2.5 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 11/20
On tap at Corner Brewery. Beer...maybe.
This is coffee. A very dark brown color, no lacing. Faintly sweet from the oats. Any carbonation seems to be absorbed by the coffee. Completely 1-dimensional and I did not care for it, at least at 4 in the afternoon. Maybe at 7 in the morning.

2.5 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 2/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 8/20
12 oz. bottle. Poured a dark brown color with no head at all. The aroma on this was amazing... fantastic coffee, with a little malt, as well. Unfortunately, the rest wasnít so good. The flavor was sour, kind of tart, and just not good at all. Add to that this had almost no carbination. Disappointing, because the aroma has you believing it will be fantastic.

2.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 1/5 OVERALL 9/20
Bottle. Chalky, uncomfortable body and a carbonation beyond lively drag this beer down. Dark brown pour with a nice tan head. The aroma is espresso and roasted malts with a hint of chocolate. The flavor was lightly to moderately sweet and moderately coffee bitter. Finishes with a bitterness and sourness. The medium body had a gritty texture. Uber-lively carbonation.
