3.7 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Bottle at Chrisoís Pre-GBBF Shindig 2012. Poured a cloudy, near opaque
brown with a small, fading bubbly beige head. Lovely juicy citrus fruit aromas of grapefruit with resin & pine too & touches of roasted malt. Drier flavour-wise with more roasted malts, pine, liquorice & berry skin. Medium body, firm & lightly carbonated palate texture with a lingering dry, resinous bitterness.

At last a review in real time, still have backlog, but Iím getting there. Iíve got a looooooong taste of coins in my mouth. Coins that have been left at the bottom of a caffetiere for a month to linger in the remains of resins coffee. It goes on and on and on.

3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
Massive chocolate and coffee on the nose, not very IPA but very pleasant. Pitch Black with a solid cream head. Roastiness and bitterness dominate the flavour with a little spicy hop flavour hiding in there. An interesting beeer but I donít think Iíd try it very often....

3.3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 13/20
Bottle. Black with a big light brown head that doesnít budge. Aroma is massively soapy, some grapefruit, citrus, pine, chocolate and coffee but soap is the order of the day. Taste is again dominated by soap but when broken down also has grapefruit, chocolate and coffee. Thick with a fair bitterness and a lingering chocolate finish. A nice big robust beer with some very nice elements but the soapiness is hard to overcome

not, in my opinion, a BIPA but a heavy duty stout!
looks amazing, deep black with massive foamy head.
very bitter and maintains a decent roasty bitterness. some dark fruit also.

4.1 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Bottle from Pete. Jet black, low cream top. Smells car piss and pine + coal tar. Very stouty roast: crunchy, super bitter. The hops add a err, not sure. Perhaps they add a thin slice of perfumed mouth tremble. This really is very bitter indeed. A great UK beer, with a loooong aftertaste.

3.7 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20
Bottle at my Semi-Final Tasting, London. Pours muddy, brown-black with a light, beige bubble foam head. Rich nose of burnt malts, grapefruit and pine. Nice flavor, medium sweet with thick pine, dirt, burnt cocoa and burnt grass. Medium bodied with fine carbonation. Oily, highly resinous finish with lots of burnt grass and heavy roast. Thereís a touch of abrasive hops in the finish as well, the the beer is quite decent overall. The beer does have its rough edges (as I think many Arbor beers do) butt his is a very solid effort.
