Bottle from my mumís house. Iím not a 1 trick pony. For starters Iím not a pony and for pudding I have more than 1 trick. Iíve got moves youíve never seen before. This was a lovely trick, really pleased my mum had the foresight to buy it. Thick, rich, slight smoke, dark, yes.

Bottle. Brown with a medium head and slightly smoked. Some bitterness and a distinctive flavour. Quite like smoked beer but only in moderate amounts. Another pleasant one from this excellent brewery.

Bottle from Coppers in Newcastle. A black beer with rich chocolate flavours, notes of liquorice, sweet vanilla and slight smoke on the finish. Superb!

Cask at the Euston Tap, London. Pours clear, dark red-brown with a foamy, light tan foam head. Holds a lovely aroma of dirt, dark bread, roasted malts, burnt cocoa and a bit of dark sugar. Medium sweet flavor with a wonderful cross between smokey and roasty malts. Some good minerals, dark cocoa, rocks, burnt sugar, burnt earth and light grass. Medium bodied with fine carbonation. Fairly dry and smokey to finish with plenty of roasty, almost burnt malts, baking cocoa, faint vanilla, burnt toast, dirt. A really nice, smokey porter. Pretty solid complexity and still very drinkable.

Cask-conditioned at the Three Tuns, Bristol 6/05/2012. Dark brown with hints of red and a slight, off-white head. Aroma of roasted malts, fatty bacon and caramel, with a hint of leafy hop. Flavour was sweetish, with some dark fruit, chocolate and a dry roasty finish. Very drinkable. Part of the "freestyle Friday" series.
