Keg at Hanging Bat. It pours darkest ruby with a thick beige head. The nose is touch of farmyard, roasted malt, coffee grinds, pithy citrus, orange peel, cocoa and mild acidity. The taste is roasted malt, ash, bitter cocoa, spice, peppery and pithy grapefruit with a dry finish. Medium body and fine carbonation. Solid black IPA.

Keg @ Jolly Butchers 2014/4/8 A nice enough Black IPA. Thin body which suits the style. Packed full of bittering hops - one would assume Galaxy. Cask reviews suggest a different beer. Maybe it has matured a little in the cellar. Who knows.

cask, Font. Chocolatey & smooth. Roast is moderate on the nose but pleasantly obvious in the finish, without being overpowering. Very fine stout

Cask conditioned at Far From the Madding Crowd, Oxford. Dark chestnut with cream head. Well it is dark in colour, but really the heavier roasted malts donít show through that much, in fact itís fairly fruity although the hops do dry and bitter up the palate. It feels like an odd mix to me. Not sure.

Aroma: Chocolate, roasted malt and damp wood.
Appearance: Mahogany body with a small off-white head that quickly fades. Light lacing.
Taste: More fruity that chocolatey. Big blackcurrant and red fruit notes. Deep, rich and smooth.
Palate: Thin to medium body with a very oily mouthfeel. Soft carbonation.
Overall: Very easy drinking. Interesting balance between tangy fruit and rich malt flavours.

Very dark mahogony brown - approaching black with a good tan head that retains well. Good lacing ensues.
Nose is hops, blackcurrant, light pine.
Taste comprises hops, pine, berry fruits, light sugar, mineral tones.
Medium bodied, soft carbonation, smooth on the palate, dry finish.

Cask-conditioned at the Three Tuns, Bristol 30/1/2013. Deep brown in colour with a touch of red. Caramel, powdered chocolate, some orange peel and a touch of pine before a dryish finish. Fine.

King William IV, Leyton. Clear dark amber - brown beer, small pale tan head. Palate is light and dry. Good malts, not too sweet but carrying a bubblegum ester. The backend has mild tropical fruit with a bitter back end that is characteristic of Galaxy which I guess from the name is what this is brewed with. Finishes dry with some mild roast malt and strong hop bitterness. Itís fine but doesnít quite hang together. The ester is out of place.

Cask at the Euston Tap. Dark brown colour with a white head. Hints of malt but more of a hoppy smell. This was nice, malt with some caramel and maybe a hint of treacle, then a long citrus hop smack and a bitter finish. Maybe not perfectly integrated together (these Black IPAs often arenít) but a good pint nonetheless.
